Fixed fare here is $2.50. Punch pass for 20 trips is $39 (1.95 a trip) and a monthly pass is $64. Seniors free on Wednesdays. That $64 doesn't seem such a good deal (relative to the punch pass) unless you guarantee using it at least 8 trips a week, although one can claim tax on it, so maybe the real cost is around $48.

There are gps trackers on the busses here now so you can see where yours is in real time and see how long it will be until it reaches your stop.
I do that on line but only for one of the two buses I generally get. One route is every 30 minutes and dead reliable so it's not needed. The other one runs every 15 minutes (more often when traffic is light - most of the time) so not that essential there either. But it is handy when it's very cold out because sometimes I can look at the route and where the three buses running it are and work out that I leave "now" I'd be at the stop for 10 unnecessary minutes.

10 minutes isn't much - we're pampered here - but it is when 30 below.

We have monthly passes as well, just I don't take transit often, this will be the first time I will take transit multiple days in a row in almost 2 years, and its only for 5 days so makes no sense to buy a monthly pass each month.

Monthly pass depends on how many zones you need.

1 zone pass is $95
2 zone pass is $128
3 zone pass is $174

The zones are not distance based, just lines they have drawn, someone going from say downtown to Marine Dr travels further vs someone going from Marine Dr to YVR but the person going Marine Dr to YVR has to pay for 2 zones despite travelling less distance.

If you pay cash fare

1 zone is 2.95*
2 zone is 4.20
3 Zone is 5.70

All fares above are regular adult.

My need for transit and the cost break down is:

2.95 to get to Canada Line via bus.

10.25 for a day pass since it ends up a bit cheaper to buy the day pass,

$13.20*5 = $66 for 5 days.

* With cash fare you cannot transfer bus to skytrain/Canada line so you need to pay again to get on the train, you can however transfer skytrain to bus.

I still find it amazing my dad made in 1991 what I was making in 2018.

Apparently 1 bed rent avg has crossed into the 2k per month territory.

Surprised it took this long.

They filed for Chapter 11 reorganization. If other retailers are any clue, they will attempt to recover enough from holiday sales, then early in the next year announce sales were low and not as expected and file for Chapter 7 and liquidate the company.

If it's real, I'll meet you half way. I'll buy a place and we can trash it after.

Default Who Sampled...

So, I was in this pub in Lunnon last week with colleagues, enjoy a few beverages, the opening bars of a song came on and both myself and a much younger (one of those damned millenials) colleague went "Oohhh, this is a classic". "I didn't put you down for being a fan of the clash" I exclaimed. "Who?", he said, looking at me with a mix of confusion and drunkenness. The song being played turned out to be "Paper Planes" by someone called MIA. The sampled riff that caused my reaction was, of course, from "Straight to Hell" by The Clash. One is a mildly catchy mid 00's popular musical composition, the other is a classic.

Anyway, besides now illustrating that I am 50 going on somewhere in my 70's, mulling on this caused me to google "who sampled" which lead to the website of the same name. What a useful thing for really trying to find out where that earworm that is in your head, really came from. Brought to you as a public service: https://www.whosampled.com/

Oh yes, and The Clash:

vs. MIA:
