Canada’s publicly funded health care system does not cover effective interventions for mental disorders.
“Mental health has been left out of the publicly insured framework not because of evidence but because of historic decisions fuelled by misinformation, fear and prejudice and by squabbles over jurisdiction,†she says, tracing the origin of the problem back to days when mentally ill people were institutionalized in provincially run asylums.

Maybe the new government will be able to improve and bring Canada's mental health care into modern times and actually cover the treatments people need, currently unless financially able to self pay, many many fall through cracks because they cannot access the treatment they need due to lack of funds for it.

It's a very patchwork system that varies province to province and city to city even within a province.
The biggest hurdle in most of the provincial healthcare plans is they do not cover therapy based treatments and only cover psychiatrists and medication which while useful for many, is not useful for a lot of others.
For instance in BC there really is no treatment options in the public system for borderline, there is a small program in Vancouver however you have to live in the city of Vancouver.
Victoria also had one but due to budget cuts they eliminated the program.
The private DBT center to me is very pricey, and is $880/month per month on the low end if you choose a student therapist vs a registered psychologist.
At the end of the day, it's great when people can get the help they need, but at the same time many more cannot because the services they need are not offered in the public system, and they don't have the funds to self pay.

Mental health is just not treated on a level playing field and those with a major mental health issue still face a lot of stigma.
Many with mental illness could achieve a lot more in life if they had access to the services they need which in turn would likely be more cost effective compared to the current method of doing things.

Vancouver International Airport named best airport in the world | Globalnews.ca
I do like flying both in and out of VVR. Great views out of the plane doing both- We often fly over one of the Oink Whaling Company boats just off the coast. Airport is very attractive, nice sculptures, sizeable fish tank for JS. I especially like the International terminal but even domestic isn't bad. It isn't like a confusing rabbit warren like SeaTac is. Well done YVR

I'll be there Sunday.
Haven't flown from YVR in 7 years roughly but I imagine they have changed over the years, but even then it was pretty good airport.
Generally the fares from there are sky high, but lately seems the airlines have become competitive with Seattle on US bound flights making YVR an option again for us budget flyers...lol
Oh and where is the fish tank? Had no idea they had one.
