I'm sitting counting time, as I have to go and pick my husband up from the airport in 3 hours:huh: I am truly sick of the bloody snow! I want to walk and run and doooo things, but this stuff keeps on falling, it's not been the coldest or the most horrible, but NOW I really want the thing to finish:blink: Comparing the relative prices of traction sand for the driveway was not something I had planned for:o.

Rant over! Thank you....

Have you had more than us then? So far it's been a lot like last winter's picnic. Ice storm excepted of course. :(

We were supposed to have had 10-15cm of snow today, followed by ice pellets and prolonged freezing rain. We had half the snow and neither of the others.

We are due around 30cm Thursday night/Friday morning.

I've got the dreaded lurgy, aka a flu type virus. Forgot to get a flu shot this year didn't I? I'm just relieved that I've had pneumonia vaccinations so at least I can breathe as I stagger from bed to couch and then back to bed when sitting up is too tiring.

You only had 5cm on the ground?

Thats nothing...lol

A snow blower would be handy, our street is so bad our car gets stuck. Hasnt been plowed yet since the storm over the weekend.

Thought you meant total. My bad.

Freezing rain at the moment. Hopefully the snow hanging off the roof doesn't fall on someone.

Our front window is one big sheet of ice at the moment. Crazy.

We had it all on Tuesday night. Snow, blowing snow, ice pellets and freezing rain.

It took hours to clear it yesterday, even with a snowblower. It's hard to shift snow that you can bounce a brick off.

Had pretty much the same last night. Snow then freezing rain and now rain.

Boy does freezing rain make a mess of things.

Public transit isnt running at the moment which has people ticked online as they cant get to work.

Schools are closed again though. There has been 1 school day this week.

Funny thing, snow.

A little bit of snow in Ottawa and all the school buses are cancelled. They are almost never cancelled in Gatineau. The two cities are adjacent.

They are here too, so gallantly I took the day off to hang out with HID. I thought it'd be nice to go out for a posh boozy lunch and then go drunken sledding or just make a day of it and go bar hopping. Unfortunalty, I'm stuck helping her put together (meaning, I'm formulating and writing, while she lays on the sofa watching another chick flick) a research grant proposal. It's meant to be my day off too. :frown:

Bob the goldfish had surgery.

20 year old Bob had a tumor he needed removed.

At 20 Bob is at the top end of expected life expectancy but some have made it into their 40's.

Goldfish Has Surgery To Remove Tumour At Toll Barn Veterinary Centre In North Walsham, England

I won a gold fish when I was 5 in 1984. That is the fish that got me interested in aquariums, the fish passed of natural causes in 2002.

Goldfish are actually quite intelligent and can recognize people and well you can become quite attached to them like any other pet, so I can see why the owners of Bob opted for surgery.

This was our local town- just down the road- we used a different vet- they have a habit of saving fish..

I think granddad may have not survived the flight....

Not surprising to see multiple stories from the UK about fish. Aquariums and fish seem very popular there.

Yeah, there is never enough going on in Norfolk to generate any real news and nothing else to do apart from inbreeding and keep sick goldfish

But the Gods chose to dump on Chilllawack not us (we were spared last night and got very little) and then separated us by blocking all the highways lead to the evil city in the West - divine intervention I reckon!

Nice sunny day today.

That probably means that all Ottawa school buses are cancelled.

The press can't quite figure out why buses in Ottawa get cancelled at the drop of a hat and the ones on the Dark Side almost never do. It's only across the river FFS!

Brings back memories of living on the borders of 3 school boards, 4 school bus companies, all with different rules & regulations about transport... such "fun":sneaky:

The "Press" needs to do its homework, imo! :D

Browsing through the latest Walmart flyer I was astonished to see battered cod (produced proudly in Great Britain) with Findus on the box.

I think I've only ever seen Blue Water, Hi-Liner or store brand fish like that. Certainly never Findus.

People on the dark side are more resiliant:thumbsup:

The decision has to be made about 5 am for an area from the river to almost Kemptville and from Arnprior to almost Embrun and it tends to be an all or nothing decision. Our son is in grade 11 and his school is about 7 or 8 km via an OC Transpo schools run bus so it was cancelled yesterday. As a result, internet usage was high for the day as he was home all day. On 'snow days' it is pointless going to school as about 1/4 - 1/3 of the kids can be bothered to show up and they just play games/watch movies.

Snow shouldn't stop buses running say 10 cm - 15 cm. Freezing rain is not fun to drive in and the roads just get clogged.

When I run this province (ha) there will be one public school board..if you want religion in your school pay for it yourself.

The ice was crazy. Really had to watch closesly when out yesterday for falling ice.

Some falling off the building were large enough to shake the windows a bit.

Dog was scared most of the day from it. She never experienced falling ice and the noise it creates.

Aren't all those brands (mostly) owned by the same parent company?

Good excuse for a cuddle! When my last lab was a puppy he was tied up to his doghouse and there was a thunderstorm and he got so scared I had to take the roof off to get him out.

Growing up we had a german shepard who did that with thunder, frozen inside her dog house and wouldn't move, like trying to move a concrete block..

Luckily Charlee doesn't seem to get bothered with thunder, granted we don't get much of it around here so it's not something that happens often.
