I wasn't kidding. Nice-looking house but odd room sizes.

https://goo.gl/maps/AXbd8oJyLRk Bats is doing a great job finding the fugly in small town Ontario. That one in Brighton has this place by the main road in front of it. https://goo.gl/maps/LihcJdWTVxj at least it is a landmark to describe the retrofitted building you live in converted into apartments. |

Fairytale is the word! It's definitely the showpiece of the town.
https://www.google.ca/maps/@44.01339...!3m1!1e3?hl=en Upon looking around at a few spots in the town it seems like a nice place, some parts not as affluent, but even those areas without pavement have some charm. It isn't choked with cars and trucks, or derelict vehicles, which is refreshing. |

A lot of house for the money! Nice riverside location too.
Housing just isn't that expensive here. My 4-bed detached in a nice area is probably worth $270k tops. If we moved it five miles down the road to the Ottawa side, the price would be way higher. |

Houses on either side of the Gatineau River, or on the Ottawa River, are almost always the most expensive in town. You could have just told me the price and I could have stuck a pin into a map for the three probable locations.

I'd say you're doing a great job on your Google mapping too! How did you find that street in Romania!

Surprised at how affordable houses and condos are in Palm Springs.
Seems to be something for almost all income levels. Granted in summer you can expect super high electric bills so might not be worth it in the end. |

That's very affordable, especially if it's a nice area.
My house is probably cheap because it's "old" (ie mid-80s). People like "new" and there is plenty of that around here. You can get real bargains if you are prepared to do a bit of work and just look at the bones. It was the same when we bought our son's house with him. Biggish bungalow in the country on half an acre. Absolute bombsite but nothing that a bit of work wouldn't fix. I still find it hard to believe that we got it for only 120k. |

It's in a very nice area (not far from that big house). Lots of space, trees and non-identical houses.
