Random stuff - the anything else thread

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Bit of a rant coming up:
I’ve learned my lesson about trying to *give* stuff away (items of furniture in good condition) via local internet/fb groups...
Multiple messages from people who haven’t read the details in the ad posted (first come first served, can’t deliver, etc etc), a lot of time wasted replying, then more time wasted waiting around for them not to turn up and fetch item(s).
It happened a couple of years ago with decent sofa, and again recently with a decent table.
Lesson learned: call local charity place, schedule pick-up, pick-up happens on schedule, job done. And watch charity sell them for silly prices (NB: good for charity).

We didn't need to sell it so we decided to give it to a local women's charity who help set up women escaping abusive homes. They wouldn't come and get it. So in the end we took it all to the Goodwill centre.

When we left Calgary in 2011 we basically had the contents of a 4 bed house to give away (we weren't taking much home as we already had everything in the UK too).

Indeed it can.... I hear you!
Working from home with very little contact with colleagues (apart from the odd skype chat) is isolating too.. sometimes I don't speak to a soul for days
Still, we have to look on the bright side.. at least we are working!

True.
Learned today I need new boots for work, they leak water now and feet are soaked. Horrendous rain today even for Vancouver.

First footballers started doing it (speaking behind the hand) and now politicians.
What are they saying that they don't want others to lipread?
