Yes, I did have a blog a couple years back. It never really took off, but I did have some traffic, anywhere from 0 to 20-30 views a day, sometimes more. I started to get too many trolls and some unpleasant comments so I stopped.

Government policies are annoying sometimes.
When I work and get paid there is an annual exemption amount. Now become ill and not work and get paid EI, not exempt, disability is deducted dollar for dollar. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
The guy came and augered our septic field yesterday and couldn't fix it, so today he was supposed to squirt water down it and if that didn't work they were going to spot dig. I get home, no sign of anything. Apparently Alberta 1 call can't find our address from the blue sign number (they have been out before). This blue sign address was supposed to make us findable, google maps can find us. Royally annoyed, also means that the hope of spending $800 has leapt to $5000. Woohoo. Who needs an empty credit card? Lets hope when they do come out they can fix it from that and a whole new field isn't needed. This year can just go and do one.

There was a PC Optimum points offer today. $22 worth for a $75 spend, so I asked my MIL to get me a box of Test Strips @ $85. I didn't know it was a Seniors Discount day (I'm not old enough but she is) and the discount reduced the price to less than $75 so I didn't get my $22 of points. It doesn't compare to having to spend an extra few thou, but that's happened to me too. A few times. |

Anyhow... I start the DBT stuff tomorrow. I wish there was free parking at hospitals though. I have to risk a ticket tomorrow. They really think everyone going to a hospital for things can just pay for parking for several hours. |

I can understand reasonably well what people in the 1st 3 are saying but after that I have a hard time understanding many native to Canada french speakers. Our kids went through french immersion all the way through high school and our daughter uses french daily in her job in Toronto and they were taught Parisian french. I don't believe that "Ontario' french is taught.it is picked up from your family/in the street etc. |

The description "Ontario French" is likely intended to imply French spoken more correctly than them oiks across the river can do. They're likely looking for joual as would be delivered by someone from Switzerland or the Belgian Congo, that is, clearly enunciated and with correct grammar but peppered with localisms. I'd give 'em a blast of Cajun. |

That form of Ontario French is a akin to someone from remote Quebec speaking while drunk having recently incurred a blow to the nose.

Ontario french is peppered by english words like 'muffler' 'parking' etc. |

MIL has Omega3 which can be around $20-$25 and some sort of laxative thing that's about $40, so it's no trouble to spend a bit extra on a 20x day and find you have $10 to $15 worth of points to be spent there or Loblaws. It's really like getting 20% cashback. In my case I have to buy test strips and needles. I either time it to get 20x points or the 55+ discount (20%) at a different pharmacy. If it's impossible to do then maybe look on the bright side that you don't have to get something costly. I know you have other costs. It pleases me I can save about 20% of the costs of needles and strips but I'd much rather not have to spend the 80% to begin with. :( |

I buy my tooth brushes there too as they sell the Colgate ones I like for 99 cents on sale vs 1.25 at dollar store & 1.47 at Wal-Mart. When they had a better food selection I would spend more, but they shrunk the food selection and since Loblaws took over I stopped going to get Cheese when on sale since they replaced it with no name cheese and I don't like no name, |

The Pontiac region NW of Aylmer heading up to Shawville and Fort Colougne is very anglo. |

Prescriptions were a good way to collect points back in the day. BC has since banned collecting points on prescriptions. Ticked people off and stores sued but the ban was upheld so no more points on rx. |

Nothing like having a plane loaded and ready to go and no fueler in sight. Its a different company and they seem short staffed today.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Went to the beach with friends today - it's been planned for weeks and I have been so looking forwards to it.. We only go there a couple of times a year and never made it there last year.. so it's a bit of a big deal for me... plus I was wearing a skort and top that I purchased specifically for today, having lost 30lb and feeling like I don't look quite so crap for a change!
It's been stonking hot the last couple of weeks, blue sky and sunshine.. perfect beach /patio weather. So off we troll for the hour+ journey, boogie boards, chairs, beach umbrella, swimgear, towels, sun tan oil stowed away and off we jolly well go, all ready for a lovely day by the water! After stopping for breakfast, we carry on driving and finally get there, Go to the pub overlooking the water where we usually go prior to going further along the coast to the sand beach and are sat on the patio drinks in hand (non-alcoholic in my case) - and it clouds over... thick dark clouds covered the sky - and it poured with bloody rain the whole afternoon. :( There were 4 of us huddled under an umbrella, sipping! It was absolutely tipping it down with severe thunderstorm warnings, thunder grumbling in the background - and boats speeding to get back to the marina. No sitting on the beach in the sunshine with a stroll along the sand and a paddle. I was so disappointed. I asked if we could try and reschedule another visit for September - weather permitting!:fingerscrossed: |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
That's a shame :(
That sounded like a very British place the way you described it. And then when the summer rain arrived it was most definitely Blighty. |

Its Friday for me. 3 days of sleeping in until 7am....cant wait.
Nice day though. A bit humid but always is early in the day. |
Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
Always the pits when weather is not cooperative. Hopefully you folks can manage to get the visit in with some nice weather in Sept.

Re: Random stuff - the anything else thread
I love watching videos taken from landing planes in San Diego, I miss those old days of flying in there almost every week in my late teens/early 20's. I took a flight somewhere about weekly between 1998 and 2004.
San Diego is the busiest single runway airport in the US, and 3rd in the world. On another topic, I applied to an airline again, I have done so every 6 months for I dunno 3 or 4 years now, never get anywhere, but I keep trying. I always see training groups for this airline when I am at work, so its clear they are hiring. |

12 hours of non-stop drilling, jack hammering or whatever the heck the commercial place downstairs is doing. 85 decibels inside the apartment all day long.
Nothing we or anyone else can do, the city permits commercial work from 7:30am to 8pm which is idiotic. Noisy work should be limited to 9am to 5p. Good thing I don't work tomorrow or I would be screwed by not getting any sleep. I see no way out of this hole, its not physically possible. Only reason we stay even remotely floating is because MIL helps from time to time, but each month we get deeper in the hole and unless I can manage to somehow get energy to work 20 hours a day, not sure what the solution is. |

You should get some earplugs, they are cheap and will reduce the level by 31dB. If your 85 dB is a reasonably accurate measurement you could contact the city as 8 hours at 85 can induce hearing loss. Wear the ear plugs, maybe headphones on top, go out if you can. How about a nap in the park? |

We also still need to go and check these towns out as well, but again not something we can do at the moment. As far as I know the only train service in that town (Quesnel) is Rocky Mountaineer and it's a tourist train and not cheap and not year round, its not suitable for basic transportation. Now with Greyhound pulling out we have to reconsider places since we can't live remotely and not have access to other regions, and flying within BC is costly, and most smaller towns don't have full medical services so you need to be able to get within a region, but cars and gas inflate the cost of living, and with lower wages in these smaller towns, then inflated cost of living because of a car, add in rent, and well might not actually be better off in the end.

Noise just annoys me more and more as I get older, could be hearing damage from years of working in high noise environments for so many years, even with hearing protection airport ramps are still noisy.
