Yeah ok Mrs cynic. Surely the filming of the scenery is contemporary? I know you know the east is pretty.

Oh well. I took the day off.

Many do here as well, it's just not a stat holiday.

Newfoundland does have the oddest stat holiday though, the first Wednesday in August - Regatta day. It's a holiday for the St John's rowing regatta - the oldest continually run sporting event in North America apparently. The rub is that if the regatta goes ahead, then it's a stat holiday. If it's too windy/rainy for rowing on Quidi Vidi lake then it's a case of everyone goes to work and we'll try again tomorrow.

The true party animals play regatta roulette as the Tuesday night is the end of the George St festival in St John's. So you can go to the concert, drink your head off and hope for a fine day so you can sleep off the effects over the stat hol. Or have to go to work with a really big hangover if it's too windy.;)

No they filmed it way back when. Then they colored the film with marker pens! 😜

Casablanca was also available in the dumbed down format. "I came here for the blue, blue, waters".

The colour in IAWL was quite unreal. But given the fantasy nature of the movie, the unrealness of the colour didn't detract from it and in some ways it added a bit.
Easy enough to turn the colour off and watch in B&W of course.

I have seen both of those (gwtw was a waste of 3 hours), and I have seen Star Wars, but I think only the first one. I have never seen Rocky, Rambo, any Godfathers or anything by Quentin Tarantino. I have also never seen or read Warhorse, because I am a terrible blubber.
