No credit card, cash only, not a frill in sight. 35 years ago Costco came to Canada. Look at those ever so fancy television sets. That Burnaby store is still there too, although Burnaby has 2 locations now, but City of Vancouver still just has 1, and that one has no free parking either.

Avoiding the serious politics threads even though I definitely don’t get anything I think I know about US politics from watching the West Wing but why does Donna Moss vote by post in Wisconsin, even though she lives/works in Washington?

Take Trump, he works and currently as President resides in Washington, DC but his state of residence is currently Florida which is why he voted in Florida and not DC. (Trump was a resident of NY for most of his life, only moved to Florida last year.)
For those like me who used to live in the US, but no longer do, we vote based on our last state of residence using last address we resided at.

Same for us who were in the UK - vote based on last home address but only for 15 years.

Assuming you mean Washington DC, many DC political types don't maintain their permanent residency in DC so they will vote where they have their permanent residency. Same with congress they may live and work in DC when in session, but they maintain residency in whatever state they are from.

Poor people all gonna have to get new windows. Someone appears to have taken out the windows of several cars in Vancouver...
First rule of Vancouver, leave nothing in the car, literally nothing. Even a nickel or a pop can will see your window get busted in if one of Vancouver's finest walks by.
Doesn't always work but many times they won't bust a window on a car if they don't see anything.
When we were in Vancouver still, almost every night when I was up in the very early morning hours 1am-3am range, it was basically a nightly occurrence hearing glass being shattered in the distance. No wonder our car insurance was $50 some odd dollars more in Vancouver vs now....

If it's freezing temperatures outside, you could put your stuff in plastic boxes on the balcony, perhaps. If you know in advance the date / time of it happening then get some ice cream (or other plastic containers - cheaper than having to buy those freezer ice pack things) fill them with water and freeze them - and keep a couple in the freezer (if there is room) and put the rest in the fridge. Try to avoid opening the fridge once the power goes out, it should stay cold for 4-6 hours - longer if you have ice packs in there.
Strange they would cut it off for that long - that's going to cause issues for a lot of people.

Got the reason it's going to be off so long, it's to hook up the new apartment complex across the street that is almost done so they have power, must be a fairly big job to do. The outage only affects our complex and the old folks home, seems the single family homes are on a different system maybe.

This is pretty cool picture someone took from an airplane over the Vancouver/Burnaby city limits.
You can tell each city certainly lights their city differently, where Vancouver ends and Burnaby begins.

Meanwhile in Mayfair, these are the problems that some people have to worry about...
Man wins £1.5m by staking £27m on roulette and sue casino for an additional £243k.
