I recall suggesting this when working in local gubmint a few years ago, you'd have thought I was asking for people to sacrifice their firstborn to pagan gods!!

I am now the proud non owner of a duplex. All signed off, but I suppose all the other parties could drop dead, go insane, whatever before I bank the proceeds tomorrow.

There, that was anti-climactic wasn't it.

I find having them in a Ziploc bag in tepid to warm water (depending on urgency) does the trick nicely. Much better than a microwave defrost.

+1

That's exactly what I do, get as much air as you can out of the bag and if some of the meat is sticking above the water put a saucepan of water on top to weight it down.

Make sure you refrigerate it as soon as it's thawed, if you aren't cooking it straight away.

I put frozen meat in a heavy cast iron skillet, and it thaws out quicker than on the counter. There was a ribbed pan advertised on television years ago for thawing meat out fast, but when tested it worked no better than a cast skillet. I thaw kippers out in the sink.

Congratulations Bristol! I'd been imagining all sorts Europe here you come...perhaps....

My husband has invited people to dinner at the weekend...I presently have no kitchen as we've knocked the kitchen wall down and have plaster dust in every orifice....running away from home seems a sensible option.

Catering is your friend. They'll even clean up if you need it.

So had I!

He should cook/clean/deal with that!

My ex once started refitting (I.e. Demolished) my kitchen 2 days before overseas visitors arrived for Christmas/NY stay... I gave a 3 hour ultimatum for him to sort it out, or Else...

Thawed in time. No ziplock bags but I put them in a large Tupperware and then put that in cool water. Got everything ready now just need some guests.
