I will start off by saying I am not having a go - what I outline below, I do as well but ........................
Why is it that if you send someone a pm, or reply to a pm, people then put it down on an open forum.
The recipients know that they have got a pm - it shows up on your screen as soon as it comes ffs - along with the reply. There really is no need for the "sent you a pm" - "replied to pm" business.
I think we do it to prove to the rest of the forum that are having conversations not on the board lol. How self absorbed is that

Maybe you don't know the system very well and so thought it was appropriate?
Didn't realise it would annoy someone enough for them to make a thread about it?

and it doesn't annoy me as such, why would it? I do it
It's just something that struck me as being funny

Perhaps because sometimes people don't sign in and would not get the message that they have a PM waiting, but may just surf which is what I usually do. I am one of the 'timid' ones in spite of which I actually posted today and yes, got shot down, even though I have pm'd only perhaps two times. I'll know better next time, if there is one. Being self absorbed has nothing to do with it -- at least in my case. The fact that you say you are not having a go does not help.

It's possible they may query the data to see if it contains any key words or phrases that are unacceptable. If any come up, then maybe someone might read it. I can't imagine an administrator trawling through them for fun or just to be nosy though. I could be wrong of course. There could be somebody doing just that now and having a good chuckle at our expense.

See now thats another one (and I know you kow it is thats why you sent it to hilite the point) but the recipients know they have the Karma (unless they don't know where to look). So it's just an under the table way of saying I agree with you but am not going to put it into words.
That was stating the obvious wasn't it
