I think the idea is to draw a parallel between the former Duke of York having had 10,000 men (that's a line from a nursery rhyme assumed to be familiar to the viewer) while the current Duke of York has had 10,000 children (an exaggeration of his alleged crimes under poetic license). I think it's weak because it depends on a feeble pun "had 10,000 men" in the sense of commanding them vs. having sex with them and because it depends on an erroneous parallel between having sex with 10,000 consenting adults and 10,000 children. I think there's also a hint there of comparability of between gay sex and paedophilia which is untenable.

It may be that the intent of the cartoon is to ridicule the allegations against the current Duke of York but that would depend on the viewer thinking that the former Duke of York was clearly not a raving poove and I, at least, just don't know.

Prince Andrew's title is the Duke of York.
Oh yeah. Forgot that one.

I thought it might be something along those lines, but it seemed such a stretch. Surprised people found it so funny, but that's just serious ol' me.

Perhaps the cartoonist knows the nursery rhyme to be euphemistic; that would make a kind of sense of it.

Except specialists claim that condition does not exist, no way, no how.
If someone can find out who the girls from the St James Island orgy were and locate them, then he may have cause to sweat.

I think I was looking for those photos after you posted your comic, and I was puzzled top not find them. Maybe one of the thread's should be titled HRH Prince Andrew to reduce confusion and increase irony.

I saw the "had 10,000 men" cartoon somewhere else and it had another speech bubble saying something like "... and quite a few young girls too."

Very feeble.

Strangely before all this Prince Andrew news broke, I used to call our main computer server at work the "Grand old Duke of York server" .......as it was down all the time, but them would be half working and then it was up and then down again..... so mockingly I said "Ahh it seems to be a grand old Duke of Yoirk server..." I got some puzzled looks from most......except for one older co worker born in Canada to British parentage.....he chuckled..... it wasn't totally wasted!
