And its not funny either.

Maybe you should go and educate yourself about some of the sacrifices and horrors of the past that it took to make the freedoms we take for granted today.
I and my kids will be at the war memorial on Sunday.

Find a war memorial on sunday. Talk to the old guys with the medals, some of them will be glad to educate you.
As soon as we forget the lessons and sacrifices of history, we run the danger of repeating them again. Never Forget.
Sorry, hard to believe there is a british adult alive who does not understand the significance. I mistook your ignorance for being a smartarse.

Primarily the first war, it was rigged to end at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month at who knows what cost in lives. Beyond that, wars in general.

The poppies arent there as a memorial, they are just there. They were there before the war turned them into muddy bogs where men drowned in the shell holes if they slipped off the duckboards, and they are there after...its symbolic, see

I look at pictures and I simply cannot imagine being placed in that position, let alone signing up voluntarily. My elderly neighbour lost two of her brothers in WW1. There are increasingly few people alive with first hand experience of the horror, and that makes it increasingly important that the younger generations dont ever "move on" and forget about it.
