I have recently received a photo radar in Edmonton.
Obsviously I went to court as it was unlikely that the speed saying in the ticket was correct. Let me share my experience and I hope this is an eye-opener for people living in Edmonton/Alberta/Canada:
- I went to court and I have taken evidences showing the error margins of the beam photo radar they use - the judge ignored this.
- I have taken printed information from the Edmonton Police Force and mentioned I had gotten them from the website. The judge laughed at me (!).
- I have asked the photo radar operator about his payment/commission which from my understanding, is based on the volume of tickets. And by the way, the operators calibrate the machine!!! Complete conflict of interest - the judge ignored and referred to me as a 'foreigner' in my face (!).
- I took some info from the web again (the judge ignored and laughed again about it) containing info about the specific reach of the beam lights. The operator did not know how to answer my question and the judge said that the only way that my evidences would have any value would be if I had brought someone from the manufacturer of the photo radar (which is based in the US - American Traffic Systems (!)).
- The area where I got the ticket did not follow the Alberta Act (no schools, not residential, no complaints etc) and I have tried to show that the machine had been put there only to get money from citizens. They ignored the question I made to the operator, who did not know about the stats on the area or even why he had a photo radar there.
- Besides, this operator had a 3 days course and has been working as operator only for few months!!!!!
I am complaining to the politicians around here because I pay way too much tax for nothing: the streets are full of snow, the healthcare system sucks, I do not feel welcomed, even though I pay lots and lots of taxes for NOTHING.
I am back to the UK as soon as it is time to sell my properties here and simply go!! Canada/Alberta/Edmonton does not deserve me in my opinion. Good luck with the future, Canada with your refugees and wild west culture and legal system!!!!!

And as for refugess, you do remember britian right?

This is what happens when we let colonials try to run things themselves. It quickly becomes a shambles, and they just love to stick one in John Bull's eye.
A good horsewhipping, that's what your judge needs.

Love the " the streets are full of snow" complaint though
, you should definitely complain to the politicians about that one ! The UK deals with it so much better

You're entirely correct, the country does not deserve you. Even though it will be a terrible loss for us you should high tail it back to Blighty as soon as you can. They do deserve you.

Judging by other posts it would appear that the OP is engaging in some troll based entertainment.

Speed was 75 Km/hr in a 60 Km/hr lane. I was in the second lane and not the high speed one, I had my son - I would not speed up at all, I have never received any speed tickets anywhere in the world (this is factual), it was a weekend day (therefore, no rush to get to work, for example).
