We have a little tortoiseshell cat. I found her in the wheel arch of my neighbour's truck about five months ago, when she was just a few weeks old.
We were very naughty and didn't turn her in. She was most likely a stray or abandoned, and we didn't even know which city/province she came from. In any case, she attached herself to me straight off and has never let go.
I wanted to call her Honda but the vet though that was wank. For a while, we called her Chaton (kitten). Now she is Minette (pussy cat, kitty etc).

I believe we have and believe you did, yes. Clemmie, was off course, Winston Churchills wife. Mind you I suspect that he didn't chase her around the house trying to rip her head off as our Winston was doing to our Clemmie this morning!

Sid, Ron, Charlie, named for the thuggish sons I expected to have but didn't. Kobe, a donkey, the name somehow relates to those Japanese cows. Austin-Healey Mk IIa, a horse, the cost of maintenance of said horse precludes acquisition of the real thing. Dixie, another horse, registered name something about light sabres, dunno why. Possum, a cat. Adventure Kitty, another cat. There was Brigid, an Irish dog, but now there isn't.

Our golden retriever is called "Islay" (eye-la) after the Scottish Island as far as I was concerned. My OH however, says he named her Islay after the region of Scotland where his favourite single malt is from.

We used to have a cat called Arnie, named after Arnold Schwarzenegger because he was so brave
We had 3 German Shepherds all with very non German Shepherd type names; Sascha, Oscar and Josh. All far too soft and good natured for macho names.
