Actually I do pay for some channels that I have very little interest in.

I don't feel the need to bother cancelling something if I'm only going to resubscribe two months later.

No offence intended but I'm not that cheap.

The Canada "Arm" is a channel wholly owned by Rogers Media (pretty much PPV expat Sportsnet using the Setanta brand).

The UK "arm" has no say on selling it!!

The brand name may change, but if the channel is profitable, then most of the programming should stay, except the games specifically licensed to Setanta (UK) to broadcast (i.e. the 46 EPL games)...

I'm amazed some expats are so short of cash that they want to save the $15 a month.
My information is that The Score is carrying the U-21 championship, which may be another reason for the cheapskates amongst us to cancel Setanta soonish for the summer..unless you like AFL and rugby.

Yes...I saw The Score was doing it...and I may try it. The last under 21's was actually available as a good stream...it was stretched a little so the players looked a little tubby but completely watchable.

But Setanta Canada definitely promo'd it. I'm waiting for an email back to confirm before I make up my mind

The English Premier League has told Setanta if it does not pay the reported £30m it owes by Friday, 19 June, it will lose its games for next season.

Setanta had lost much of their previous footy content for either next season or the one after (I can't remember exactly now) to other channels anyhow. I was mourning that already without this news!

But remember that this is Setanta "over there" that lost those games. Setanta "over here" did not. "Our" Setanta still has something like 130 games to show.

The worst that's likely to happen is that the "across the ocean" company goes under and 40 matches may or may not get taken up by someone and "our" Setanta may or may not take all or any of them.

Perhaps the most likely is that those 40 games could be taken up by more than one broadcaster who might be prepared to sell them on to Setanata Canada, but it might cost more than they were currently paying.

So either we could lose some of those 40 (but still have the other 90 at least or have the same number of games with a slightly higher subscription to pay.

But the less than $18 (with tax) that we currently pay is a bargain. I'm sure we'd all be willing to pay a bit more to keep what we have.
