OK. Harper's dead meat...

Marjory Lebreton's tone on the late news last night didn't leave much doubt which way she'll be voting. She stressed that there are no appeals. Show starts @ 2pm et.

if Pam is to be believed, and here I am inclined to give the lady the benefit of the doubt, why then apply rules retroactively?
I find it curious that no one from the media has been banging on the door of these high priced bean-counters requesting a comment or explanation.
I recall her interview with Mansbridge where she made the 'rules have been changed on me' claim.
And yet no word from Deloitte!

- most of the audience is not interested in tedious matters of accounting
- the rest of the audience doesn't trust Big Accounting; Deloitte, Andersen, Coopers, we remember one of them is bent but not which one.
Accountancy firm bends numbers and rules to suit client is really a dog bites man story.

Maybe I wasn't being very clear. What you had posted gave me the impression that 3 senators had been thrown out without due process.
From my, albeit limited, understanding of what is going on, 3 are facing some form of disciplinary proceedings at the moment.
I have little knowledge of what the 3 have been accused of doing wrong, or what potential sanctions they are facing. As I said above, it appears to me that it is a storm in a teacup but, whatever floats the media's boat. I do accept that if anyone has knowingly made false statements to either chamber, they should be removed immediately.

Anyway I reckon MacKay is next up if Harper is forced out, only one with leadership experience and the others are too ugly.

Good God. I've got the audio on in the background with the Senate debate going on. Marjory LeBreton is the most appallingly disorganized and unimpressive speaker. She is waffling and rambling all over the place.
Mind you, she has pretty much called out Duffy as a liar. This is getting very messy.

I can never understand why public speakers in Canada always have to speak from a script, even when what they are saying is only 2 sentences. From the local cop, explaining why they haven't been able to arrest anyone, to lawyers and Ministers. That doesn't happen in England

They were arrested for smuggling drugs and are criminals and liars instead of Sorry due to privacy issues we cannot comment on this case.

But those are still appalling public speakers. One would hope that, as they do this all the time, they would be quite good at it. Invariably, they are scripted and, even then, stumble through their 2 sentences very badly.

I think with Tory politicians the problem is that they don't know what they are going to say in the afternoon until their get their speach from the PMO in the morning.

Anyway, the beat goes on. There appear to be growing rifts in the Cons ranks in Senate and even in the Commons. Harper keeps changing his story (to gales of laughter in the House). Maggie LeBreton is sounding more and more desperate and less and less credible, Mulcair is kicking ass and lest we forget, there's a Conservative Party Convention in Calgary in 6 days.
Does anyone really think this is going to go away before then?

I caught the tail end of an interview with Alberta MP Peter Goldring yesterday. His take on the Senate actions were that they are unconstitutional & that the Gov General should be asked to step in. What was most refreshing to hear from a Conservative MP was when he was asked if going against his party and leader was a career limiting move, his response was a blunt "I don't care. We should do what is right". That degree of backbone seems absent in most politicians these days.
