PS. Mancunians are midlanders.

Sort of reminds me of the James Brown song, "Say it loud . . ."

The question wasn't "where were you living before you moved to Canada?" which is rather different to whether or not you consider yourself a northerner.

A better poll might have separated South-East and South-West. I spent most of my life in South-West england and it's a very different mindset and environment to the South-East.

Exactly

We moved for that very reason, 80% of my work was in Crappy, crowded, smelly London.

Very true.

As a Southerner I want no link what so ever with Weston-Super-Mare. The people and pidgeons have two heads!

I think what you are saying is that west country folk are the northerners of the south.

Dear Fledermaus,

I am very glad you agree with me that the North is very shit.

I was born in the north, miserable place, would never move back there. Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey or Kent for me!

southern ... sassenach to the roots ... I even live in South Alberta (sort of ....) Anything North-Of-Watford is NORTH to me! ;)

This thread is making me :D thankyou!

It reminds me of me dad ... also southerner to his very depths .... I once reminded him he'd lived in Scotland ... which I thought was pretty much north .... but he retorted that it was Glasgow, hence SOUTHERN Scotland so that was OK! :p
