The evidence would point to your "lighten up" sentiment being more suited to be directed at the newfie, who before he met some newfie chick in an online chat room, probably never heard of Newfoundland in his life, and now seems to think he's the great protector of the poorest, most isolated, highest unemployment, largest percentage of welfare recipients, most archiac mindset of any peoples I have ever met & biggest economic burden of a province to Canada.

Lighten up would be an understatement.

Google Newfoundland Inbreeding, you'll notice over 31000 results, so why be so sad about this thread, for intelligent minds there is nothing wrong with this thread.

353,000 results for English inbreeding but that doesn't really mean anything does it?

Didn't you read the thread title ? If I wanted info on english inbreeding I may have put such a thread in the MBTTUK forum but for your information:

Google results for NEWFOUNDLAND = 34 900 000
Google results for ENGLAND = 454 000 000

... and of course, they all relate to HUMAN inbreeding and NONE of them are blogs or opinions of people that might have no foundation or value whatsoever....

As a percentage, results for newfoundland inbreeding is higher than results for england inbreeding when compared to results specific to newfoundland & england respectively. I'm sure you would have figured that out though surely ?

Comparison is meaningless without context, which in this case could be to compare as percentages of population.

Lighten up would be an understatement.

The biggest economic burden of a province you speak about recently became a have province, one of the few in Canada. So, please check your facts properly before slagging it off.

Personally, I find Newfoundlanders to be some of the nicest, kindest, most generous and fun loving people out there and I feel privileged to live here. Admittedly I have only been here a relatively short time (since Nov 07), but I absolutely love my life here.

I appreciate that you didn't perhaps enjoy your time, it's not for everyone, particularly the weather. But as one Newfounlander said to me, "Doesn't bother me, keeps the ar*eholes out".

I always enjoy my time, in ANY country and certainly not swayed by inclimate weather. I have camped in a tent on top of 3m of snow in NL so I hardly think it's an issue.

I wonder how much you know about the province, not a lot is my guess.
Know anything about the Beothuks, the Innu or Inuit, Joey Smallwood, confederation ?

Yay! Way to go Pink! I'd rather be there than in ON or, it seems, NS (sorry to my fellow NS residents) as I'm moving there soon! I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Newfoundlanders and can't wait to be there!

I actually know quite a lot about the province and it's history, I made a point of doing a lot of research before moving here. I know about all the things you've mentioned here, but I don't quite get your point? Do you think I just moved here, saw friendly people, nice scenery and look at the place through rose-tinted glasses without appreciating the reality. I don't, I know this province has it's problems, but I feel that the pluses far outweigh the minuses.

You lived here a long time, obviously didn't like it and moved on - why do you still feel the need to belittle it?

Self-justification of the choice to leave?

Well, I knows a fair bit about Newfoundland. At least I know a lot about Cornerbrook, Lewisport and Fogo Island. I know a fair bit about Exploits Bay and the outports. I considered responding to your original post with a simple "**** off" but I didn't think such an obviously racist thread would get the traction it has. I'm sorry to be late in asking you to **** yourself but please do so now.
