Perhaps you recognise those words from the rules too.

Are you now going to insult my intelegence by pretending that the "Getting into the spirit" thread was anything but a commentary of sorts on the celeb obituary threads. Let it go.
1) Nope I am not going to pretend that the 'Just getting into' thread wasn't a peice of social commentary

2) Nicely side stepped the issue of other posters feeling that CO can be inflammatory. Well done.

I have no control over what other people think. Reading what she wrote, I could have typed it (only with more spelling mistakes), so you can probably imagine what I think.

No one should be blaming anyone else for what they post. That goes for you too. You are the one mashing at your keyboard, no one else.

A wise man (I forget who) said that we have no control at all over 99% of what happens to us in life, the only thing we have control over is our ATTITUDE and how we RESPOND to those events, and that has a major influence on how things turn out from there. Dont go blaming other people for your actions, you are in control of those, and only you.

Does this apply to the Mods as well. If so perhaps you and CO, should stop claiming you only post in response to whats happening on the board.

No, we are super humans from the planet Krypton...What do you think!

I can only speak for myself. Sometime, because I am a mod, I will post stuff related to keeping order here that I would probably just ignore otherwise. Was that not clear from my previous post on the subject. However, when that happens I try and maintain a polite and civil demeanour, regardless of what I think of the.... Anyway, Ive said all I intend to, and work beckons once more.

And you and I both know why you reported it. Its petty and stupid.

If you lived in the UK then its very likely all you would know of Ted Kennedy is Chapaquidic. Hell, even in Canada he was a peripheral figure in US politics as an elder statesman, no matter how interesting his life was.

I'd never heard of that till just now. Saying that, the only thing I did know about him was his dodgy IRA funding past.

No Iain what is stupid, is the fact the mods are still trying to maintain that CO does make GLARING mistakes. We are all aware that she made that post with the intention of getting a rise out of me.

If you are going to continually accuse me of being inflammatory and Troll like then ffs get your collective heads out of the sand and do something about CO. I'm sure she's a nice girl and she has her heart in the right place but no way is she cut out to be a Mod.

OK so the Kennedys supposedly funded the IRA.

Western Govts have a record of funding terrorist and guerilla organisations across the globe.

quite. i can understand why Iain would defend a fellow mod, but now i am afraid this position is becoming indefensible. Iain you are starting to undermine your own credibility on here which is a shame.

For the last 20 or so years the right wing in the US loved him. As he was easy fodder to ridicule because of his fondness for the sauce and his tendency to shag around. It was shame really because his political ideas were much more sensible and compassionate than his loony right wing detractors.

hmmm i think you are on very very thin ice with this one. Of course it is a matter of fact, possibly disputed in some quarters still, but nonetheless widely accepted that 'certain' western governments, the US being the obvious culprit supported certain 'groups'. However, i feel you will struggle to draw an accurate comparison between the PIRA and the Taliban.

This is neither the time nor the place to get into a philisophical or ethical debate on the IRA. However what I will say is that the IRA made some big mistakes and it has been suggested that the British Army went into NI NOT to protect the Protestants from the Catholics (civilians and paramilitary forces) but to protect the Catholics from the Protestants.
