Anyway they've leaked a map now showing the military radar over Malaysia and it went west over Malaysia, turned NE to follow the coast, then west over the Malacca Straits. .[/QUOTE]
Who they? If it's the search centre or Malaysian authorities it's a press release not a leak, but I can't find it on the news yet. Tried googling leaked radar map and got stories about industrial espionage.

He said many kilometers away or whatever but they know from the ACAR satellite contact it flew on for hours so it seems implausible it could have with a fire going that was serious enough to take out the crew, the radio, the ACAR, etc.
Anyway they've leaked a map now showing the military radar over Malaysia and it went west over Malaysia, turned NE to follow the coast, then west over the Malacca Straits. That isn't a fire. That's hijacking. And mathematically they can work out from the ACAR ping and the distance from the satellite the direction and speed roughly anyway. So from the point of the last ping is the corridor they're searching now.
Surface radar is a very highly developed technology to search for say, incoming torpedoes and there isn't much down there so in theory they should be able to find it.

The map I saw on the TV was an official Malaysian govt. one that had been leaked. Same path as in that picture though.

Does anybody think it's a coincidence that Russia took over Crimea around the same time this plane went missing?

Yes, it is a coincidence. Not an odd or suspicious coincidence though. More floating junk in a Chinese picture now but still a needle in a haystack. Despite having assets there to search the weather has apparently deteriorated. 120 km from the earlier pics of whateever it was.

"Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia's Prime Minister, we must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean."

RIP all those on board, MH370 and peace to the loved ones.
And hope the ridiculous news outlets can stop parading heartbreak photos of relatives for their circulations. It's disgusting.

Only as long as photography, it's the ability to strap a camera on and transmit it worldwide to anyone for free or good as that is the real mind-blower. When I was young I had thoughts of becoming a photo-journalist but didn't pursue it.

I wish you had. If you and your camera were stuck in a muddy foxhole with bullets and bombs whizzing every which way over your head, you might not have so much time to taunt us with pornographic pictures of your lunch.

I don't think it has, at least not in the mainstream media. Seems like it's only been the last decade or so that graphic photos or film have been regularly shown. I'm referring to the UK media primarily, although perhaps Canada is the same. I think some of the European media (Italy for example) have more of a history of showing brutal deaths etc.
