Treated my friend to steak, potatoes and slaw at the Serb today, (Friday is steak day), tomorrow he'll be removing the 2 tires I had slashed last night and haul them to the shop for changing. I only have use of 1 arm right now so not much help but at least I have my impact and sockets here for him.

Regina's Serbian Club, (what you folks would call 'old man's drinking club').
Yes, I lost my 2 passenger side tires Thursday night, there were about a half dozen others or more slashed down the block. I had a few not-too-bad tires in storage so hopefully I'll get away for about $50 to have them mounted, balanced, and new valve stems.

You seem fairly blasé about it, are tire slashings common on that street?

Probably more common than in the suburbs, (I'm in the middle of North Central Regina). Over the years we've lost a few, and a few more car windows. If I get my hands on one of the little vandals you'll read about how blase' I am.

Using the Sirloin Uncle Burger coupon before it expires, it's the only burger I really like at A&W.

Is just my English cynicism kicking in or does anybody else think that the way A&W names their hamburgers is creepy to the extreme?

Yeah, it's just you. After 50 + years of the burger family it is what it is.

It's a bit creepy, but they do taste good. Probably due to their marketing which primarily targets seniors.

The layout is comfy, you always see groups of retirees hanging out, they get a free refill, they can get bacon and eggs, and the motif is often nostalgic with old photos of the drive-ins on placemats and as wallpaper. Roadside highway stops are often at A&W when I'm travelling. The last 2 times I went there were no plastic trays, just small aluminum pans that wouldn't be out of place in an army field mess. It's possibly a trick of perspective, but when I was 15 the teen burger was bigger and the beef was better. At $3 + tax with coupon the sirloin is decent value and delicious. I'd still rather eat the regular A&W burgers than either McDonald's or Burger King, (I found a piece of chain-mail butcher's glove in a Whopper Jr one time), and I think Dairy Queen burgers are ok but don't have them often.

I was in Fort Mcleod Ab yesterday very briefly and tried a Spicy Guacamole Teenburger. Not bad! Barely worth the $5 introductory price either, but when it gets a $3 or $3.25 sale coupon like the Uncle Burger I'll buy it.

You do get around! Real guacamole is great, not that keen on the commercial stuff (often not much more than green mayo). Have not tried the A&W version (yet).

with my cup of coffee after lunch today I had possibly the best biscuit ever. SWMBO made a batch of chocolate-chip-and-bacon cookies yesterday. Imagine a proper, gooey-in-the-middle, cookie, with semisweet chocolate chips and little nuggets of crispy bacon all mixed in together. I brought two large ones in with me this morning, intending to have the second one later on. No chance - I scarfed them both down in quick succession. Mmmmmmm.

Congratulations. You have now fully assimilated. Kindly return your British passport to the nearest consulate for cancellation.
