For his age he actually looks quite fit. Expansive body language plus those awful suits aren't very flattering to the figure, but I'd guess Ford has about 80 pounds on Cherry. Don only played 1 game in the NHL despite a 20 year career in the junior leagues and the AHL. His player stats from back then say he was 5'11" and 180 lbs, pretty average for a hockey player.

Would you say the same of Fred, the butcher from Coronation St.? He and Cherry strike me as being of similar dimensions and demeanor.

The guy is 80 FFS! Give him a break. Sure, he's a bit portly but would suspect that he's still packing more muscle than most of us.

We dumped the idea of that duplex, by the way. Attention is now on a triplex in Cap-Sante.

No on both counts although television makes it difficult to really know what someone's proportions are. Cherry might be 5'9 1/2" or a bit more with shrinkage now at 80 and looks about 220 lbs to me. If he's an inch taller that isn't too bad. When I think of Fred all I get is the face, apron, little hat and the story but I think he was fairly big and taller than his son. Cherry probably did a few more decades of fitness training than Fred too so I doubt they'd resemble each other if you saw them side by side.

Upon consideration, I haven't seen HNIC for twenty years or so. Cherry may have dieted or otherwise been reconfigured.

How did you get out of the duplex deal?

We were about to make an offer when the agent informed us that the owner had just discovered carpenter ants. They were to be exterminated but we would have had no way of knowing what damage had been done without opening the walls. We had a reno budget but not a possible re-build budget. We legged it.

The triplex looks much better. Nice place, although probably not built as a triplex, pretty village bang next to the St. Laurent, close to Quebec City and two of the three units have long-term and stable tenants. The rental will cover most of the mortgage.

Her indoors is going to see it next week with the boy and with my BIL, who lives nearby. The agent is being very helpful. She knows that we are serious buyers and that we can get the mortgage easily (property is not expensive up there and the place is on sale for considerably less than Souvette and I make in a year).

That was lucky, wow. I thought you'd already offered.

Only verbally. It never got written up.

The other place is getting a bit exciting. We learned just now that there are visits planned for this weekend, one, apparently from a serious party.

We have launched a pre-emptive strike. My BIL, who leaves nearby, is going to see it tomorrow. It's impossible to go today because you have to give tenants 24 hours' notice.

We trust his judgement completely. If he comes back and says it's OK, we will submit a bid immediately, probably close to asking, having never seen the place!

It's a little risky but getting the seller to start negotiating on our offer shuts the door on any other visits/offers for a while. It buys some time.

Ok, so I'm getting to know Trudeau a bit better and here's what I've gathered:

He's cute (I guess, not my type)
He's rich and every now and then i get a whiff of rich-person cluelessness
He's pro pot decrimming (yay)

otherwise, meh.

That is risky though not as risky as the purchase of a field, sight unseen. We reached agreement to sell to someone who's only seen satellite images.
