To be honest I don't really feel comfortable being in a position of not agreeing with you cos you always seem well informed and provide good info.

If he was that well-informed he would be using a Mac instead of a PC! ;)

This is only a forum at the end of the day it's not the be all and end all. It isn't however a childs nursery school so due to human nature it's not going to be fluffy bunnies and lolly pops all the time. (sorry icemaiden)
I'm sorry, but the nature of the internet does not excuse some of what people say to one another on here imo. I can't imagine (though it would probably be refuted by those making the comments as they're the ones with 'backbone' or 'being honest') that the majority the nasty comments would come out if we were all having this discussion IRL in a café or similar...

Being civil, and having some bloody respect for your fellow human beings no matter how you happen to judge their 'stupid question' or spelling ability, is simple, and costs nothing. Tbh I have been posting on various boards for almost a decade now and the snidenesses I have seen here go beyond anything I have seen before.

The only point I agree with you on is in bold. This is only a forum. A place for people to exchange information and hopefully have a good time during; Granted personalities are what makes this place stand out but that is not an excuse to parade your ego around like it makes you a bigger or better person.

I feel harsh now I've written this, but I have sometimes really been shocked at the undeserved treatment some people get. It certainly doesn't apply to anyone in particular and I've not just seen it in the Canadian forums either, but if you're having a bad day - grab a stress ball, go tenderise some meat, whatever. It shouldn't be brought here.

edit: Macs are pretty, user-friendly, and more advanced than most PC's, but Majority Rules! Vive le PC!

This is not meant as anything other than a comment regarding forums. I have been a member of this one for just over a year and find it one of the most civil I've frequented.

I have frequented photo forums for over five years and an aviation forum for longer than that and this forum is friendly and polite to the nth degree in comparison. I have met people in person from this forum, I have never ever had the desire to do that on the aviation forum.

So I guess I am saying that it all depends on your own personal experience and perspective.

Cheers
Steve

So why would you feel harsh for saying what you have. You have just expressed an opinion. I believe that is allowed ;)

I obviously dont read enough of the threads due to that other thing taking up my time, what is it now, ah yes my life!!!!!, because I honestly haven't read threads and thought my god thats outrageous.

I would also like to add that I personally have not been insulting to anyone (other than to those I know well enough to take it in the manner it was meant). Ok there was once I may have suggested someones thread was boring  I am not advocating being insulting mean or nasty to people. I guess I'm just fed up with the threads moaning about threads, posts, the way people post etc etc etc.

If anyone has any probs with my answers then they can meet me in the bar and buy me a drink :D

ok, here is one of the threads under discussion with my response. ok little sarcasm at the beginning but also constructive. Whats wrong with that.......I would argue nothing?????

If I posted a thread and someone responded "Do a search as this has been answered many time before" I would think.....wow abrupt!!!!

Mark

That, I would say was fairly mild, and then informative, ...... but I note that the poster did not post again since those first two posts.

So either we scared him off, or he has taken the advice and gone to do some research. :D
