I have had to do the same, no salt to be had anywhere and the path down my driveway is just a sheet of ice. The sidewalk isn't much better and I have my fingers crossed that nobody reports me to the City for not having got rid of the ice on it. I don't need a fine!

The slight thaw today hasn't helped, just made things worse and even more slippery.

It'll mostly go over the weekend. <if you believe EC weather forecasts>

Today at -10C wind-still, felt like spring. +10C will feel like summertime in Blackpool.

Any ashes from a woodstove? You'd've thought of that already though if you had a woodstove.

I ended up on ther gtound yesterday flailing around like a flailing around thing. I didn't fall hard and the worst part was trying to get some purchase to get back up again. That amd lying on ice in minus 25C (plus wind chill, blah, blah) is painfully cold.

No woodstove, unfortunately.

Ouch! Hope you didn't hurt yourself? :fingerscrossed:

Hope you aren't too badly bruised. Its the mental shock of suddenly finding yourself on the ground that's almost as bad as the physical injuries
This weather is my worst nightmare

Hey, yes thanks I am fine. I just crumpled gently the ground, i think all the winter gear and mitts helped. I got up as quickly as i could, i woukd have been embarrased if anyone had seen me and come over to help .

I was wondering if Yaktrax with btheir coiked wires would be better than the spikes, easier to walk on non icy surfaces. Not that i was wearing spikes for my short walk from car to work

Re: It's cold... brrrrrrr

I find yak traks really hard to put on. When I got home yesterday I pulled mine out of the cupboard to see if I could just slip them as I leave the subway
The rubber snapped as I pulled them over the heels

Glad you are OK though
