Interesting article. Kind of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

However, if independence is rejected, large majorities of voters south of the Border support cutting Scottish public spending to the UK average and banning Scottish MPs from voting on English-only laws at Westminster.

A Yes Scotland spokesman said: “It is a real concern for a growing number of Scots that Scotland’s budget is in Westminster’s crosshairs and waiting to be slashed in the event of a No vote.”
I'm not really a big believer in polls. The last one in BC had the NDP party winning by a landslide and they actually lost by a landslide.

Hopefully the referendum result will be clear cut one way or the other. I would go along with sensible devolution for all parts of the UK on a uniform basis. The present bespoke devolution arrangements for certain parts of the UK do give rise to a perception that the shrill loudest voice gets preferential arrangements with issues such as the West Lothian question being ignored.

In what way? There was never any chance of the UK government agreeing to a currency union with Scotland, because the UK has absolutely nothing to gain from it.

The Scots Nats seem to believe that the UK will do whatever is best for Scotland, then act surprised when they do whatever is best for the UK.

Did you read the article? I even quoted the article - pretty simple but I'll quote it again and even highlight it.

We all get that "currency" will be an issue but every poster against the Yes vote seems fixated on that one issue - there are other issues.

After all Cameron's sweet-talking and promises of jam if you stay, cutting Scottish budgets in the event of a No vote will do nothing but provide justification for angry nationalist hot heads to start doing very naughty things indeed.

But but but 'we're voting no for the status quo, we have no questions to answer, the yes side have to predict the future and be mystic meg'.

There are numerous worries and issues about the future that a no vote would create. These seem to be conveniently ignored though.

I don't care what they vote. I'm just pointing out that the 'Yes' campaigners appear to be following a 'just make it up as we go along' policy based on pure wish fulfillment.

Re: if the scots go, do you care?

I am as mystified as I was 6-9 months ago.
Ive tried to put a Scots cap on, looking at both sides of the argument.
positives/negatives, where possible advantages/disadvantages.
White Papers, discussions and so called info forums.

Yes vote, opens the possibilties for a bright new world with all its exciting challenges.
But no real mandate or any true political ,or financial paths, or promises on social needs.

The no vote, isnt much better, more a take it or leave it attitude. No promises of more local govt
powers, or atonomy, which would help.

If I was a Scot, I would lean to the yes vote, for 1 reason, Westminister in 300 years hasnt alligned
or proved itself has an able partner, going Independent would not be a worse struggle.
That itself would bring responsibilty into our own laps.

So good luck, and hold on tight for an invigorating and rollercoaster ride, hey ask yourselves whats
to loose. Other than you wont have anyone else more to blame and yak on about.
