Some good news for a change!
When you first arrive in the province, you will be issued a DL with a 2 year expiry. You won't have to retake the test again when you renew, but unfortunately you'll have to pay again for the licence (you can then choose the 5 year option).
Must be a shocker, as I've been told that you don't have to renew your UK DL until you are 65. I guess another excuse to hand over the cash here in BC/Canada.
Oggy

Good for you - many congratulations!
I wish you miles (or should that be kilometres) of trouble free driving.
Well done.

So how did Mr Jempee get on with his driving test today?
I hope he passed and you're not lumped with all 'designated driver' duties for the foreseeable future

I took a lesson before my test, and the instructor told me to drive a fraction under the posted limits, to ensure there was no chance of failing due to speeding. I drove everywhere best part of 5 km/h under the limit throughout my test and passed with no problem.

It's 90 days if you're on a WP.

~*~*~*congrats~~**~*~ to your husband!!!!
I think it is like most things....there is strict guidelines the examniers would have to adhere too....but then it may come down to where you are and who your examiner is to the little finer points at their own discretion.
i suggest for anyone...who has come to canada permanently.....to get out there and start driving ASAP......the more you do it..the more confident you will be when the time comes....to take that driving test......

Waiting on a job interview result i had in BC last week at the moment. If it's good news we could be headed out on a temp work permit late in the summer!!!!!!! I was under the impression my licence would only last for 90 days, on a WP is it a year then as i'd be classed as a visitor?
Oh how i smile if that's the case
