This applies to BC and some other provinces, but not all, depends on where you are going.
Congrats on passing Jempee! Nerve-wracking when you've been driving for years anyway, at least it's done & dusted now!

Well done jempee! I was glad to get through mine too.
I got stopped the other day as I had reverted to 'London driver' mode and pushed in before a disguised cop car
He was very sweet when I apologised and smiled and explained I hadn't been here long
Let me off with a warning...very nice man

The test was not that hard. I had to do a turn around in the road and a reverse park (which i totally cocked up) and loads and loads of right and left turns. They are obsessed with shoulder checks. i thought i done it every time but he reckons i missed a couple. the only thing i can think off is that i did maybe not make a big enough 'show ' of looking over my shoulder. He said my speed should have been 80 on the highway and i had just kept a little under it like you would in the uk. Also on wide roads i went towards the right, curb side, and he said i should have stayed near the yellow line down the middle as it was inviting others to over take me or look like i was trying to park! oh well. went through 3 school zones, 1 hospital and an area when signs said slow due to playground/ball games. The examiner was quite easy going and he said he was just looking for any bad habits i may off picked up!! me...........never.............

An International Driving Licence doesn't buy you more time.... if you do have an accident after the 6 month period, you may find that you aren't insured due to breach of your policy!! An International DL is a document that only helps translate your current licence when in a country other than your own.... you still have to hold a CURRENT driver's licence.
Cheers to all of you for passing your tests!! I figure one bonus of having your UK DL back is that when you are back in the UK, you won't have to rent a automatic car!!

I was more nervous than when i done my uk test as i was aware that they would take my licence if i failed. so i would either of had to drive with out it or not worked till i passed as its to far to walk to work.

That is all really useful to know, thanks v much - I will make a note to add a Hollywood level of exaggeration to all my mirror and blind spot checking
I hope they are laid back in the Victoria test centre...
Congrats again

(non-alcoholic driver friendly cheers of course
