Agreed, Steve.

IF one more person says the riot doesn't reflect the "true Vancouver" I may have to vomit. What a load of codswallap.

What do you think it reflects?

Moral panic! Moral panic!

I haven't heard the word 'codswallop' used in a very long time. Sounds delicious. The word not the wallop.

The riot is being analysed to death.

How about what happened in Sri Lanka with all those civilian massacres? Just shown on Ch 4 in the UK and available to view on youtube. Analyse that to death why don't ya. Plenty more human misery in history like it to take up a whole pile of anal time.

A small riot in a large city? PA! I say. PA! I say again.

Why does it have to reflect anything?

PA? but I agree, the analysis, the denial, all of it is OTT.

Because violent social events usually do.

I was just curious. Not itching for an argument.

Not so much curiously, more stereotypically parochial

I think it's part of Vancouver, if that's what you're asking...obviously. What annoys me is the line getting bandied about right now that it's somehow separate from Vancouver and only the good things represent the 'true' vancouver. I think that's BS.

That young kid who set the police car on fire lives in Maple Ridge. His dad is a Dr and he's had to shut his practice down because of death threats.

I bet the people sending these threats of violence aren't "true" vancouverites and are just anarchist instigators.

If I remember correctly (and that's a stretch these days) I think I read someplace that the kid in the picture was unsuccessful in his attempts to actually set the vehicle on fire. Not that makes his actions any less reprehensible.

Fly sh*t pepper moment his dad is a surgeon. :o

Well, the news always montages that picture with the next one being a police car on fire. Just shows what you can do with editing when you have an agenda.

Hmm - is the "mob mentality" mantle now being taken by the hoiler than thous seeking vengeance on the perpetrators?
