They usually are. I don't think they were on special this week, but they might have been.

It's one fruit that never seems to go on sale or special around here. Price varies trip to trip, yesterday was at the low end of the spectrum at 87 cents per pound, but they can go as high as 98 cents a pound at points in time.

I really don't remember the price, but it must have been <69c/lb, which is about average here, & I won't pay more than that for 'nanas . My brain tends to register average/normal prices, & as $/lb wasn't detailled on the receipt, & given quantity, I suspect price was closer to not2old's range.

I'm always vaguely surprised that bananas work out as one of the cheapest fruits here. We can usually get apples for ~ 5lb/4.99, but they're almost always tasteless. I usually cook them, in various ways....

Banana is the only fruit I ate as a child in the UK

On apples its seasonal & usually (only) Macintosh variety

Sausages are really spendy in Canada, I think we pay nearly three dollars a sausage.

Commonly $0.99 a lb in grocery stores here. Sold as a loss leader in gas stations for $0.67 lb along with cheaper mile - $3.99 for 2 litres vs. $4.19 in grocery stores.

Me too. One of the more relevant comparisons that has appeared in here.

Although the groceries bill in the UK is quite low for a family of four. I believe national average for a family of four is around £100-110 per week.

Edited, forgot to include 'top up groceries'

Also should mention that not saving for trips home constantly is also a big saving.

Yes it was a little low... I included my main shop at Aldi but forgot that I usually grab a little extra at Tesco on the way home.

all the same if you could lower that train/transit bill you'd be laughing.

On your first list the home & car insurance in Canada seems really high - why is that?
