A NW success story it seems. Britain seems to be going downmarket with expansion of all these discounters. Sainsburys will roll out Netto too. It will probably end in tears, the discount segment isn't infinitely large. Anyway, certainly not a well known name down Sarf.

what are you on about - are you pulling my leg?

How far south are you not to find a B&M store in places such as Bristol, Reading, London, Portsmouth, Exeter as well as other 'down sarf' cities, towns & villages

B&M: Stores

Surely you are not one of those people that only shop at those posh expensive grocery shops?

Of course not, I've even been to a Tesco.

How much do you spend on booze?

If I'm going out for two or three meals, I'd say about $300 a week, if I stay home then about $100, unless I'm fishing.

If that old bloke on the telly is right that you can feed a family of four in Africa for only $30 a month, we're getting massively ripped off by Safeways.

No, it is not infinitely large. I'm glad it exists, though.

We used to shop at Loblaws, Metro or IGA. We now only go to those places for certain items. Most of our stuff comes from Maxi (Loblaws) or Super C (Metro).

It's the same stuff, just much, much cheaper and I don't feel a need to comb my hair before going.

I usually go as scruffy as I can (no combed hair or shaved, like I just got out of bed) - get the looks down the nose at me, I do, even when I shop at 'No Frills, Food Basics, Freshco & Blue Sky'. I really don't give a toss, cos my money is just as good as other shoppers.

Mostly price matching in one or two stores. Saves money

The protocol for shopping at the No Frills on Parliament demands more than simply being unshaved and uncombed. One should have a few teeth removed, tear one leg of one's pyjamas and either remove or align unusually one eyeball.

Avoid pre-chewed fruits and vegetables as you don't know what saliva borne diseases the shopper in front of you may have.

You sound just like me.

My missus has, over the last year or so, got into the habit of doing quick shops on the way home from work. We do not often do big shopping together. This means that we end up with with somewhat large quantities of beer cans to take back when I do go with her.

If you are going to spend 15 minutes in front of a recycling machine, looking like trailer-trash is appropriate!
