It's currently -12 with a windchill of -24 where I'm sitting. When I go out in about 20 minutes I will be wearing wool socks, boots, jeans, a down filled coat, scarf, down filled mittens, and a hat. That outfit is to get me from the house to the car and from the car to my appointment. Can hardly wait to gt home where it is currently 34.

You don't need to look like the Michelin Man. The warmest coat I've got is a snowboarding jacket. It's very thin and light but with all sorts of snazzy insulation and sweat layers. It is utterly windproof, which is really important.

Good footwear is crucial. If I went out today, which I won't, I'd wear my knee-length boots with felt lining and a serious tread. Probably also lined ski pants.

I'd probably also skip the toque and slap on the full-face balaclava. Frostbite warning today!

Gloves would my Auclair Racing gloves. Similar to the mogul ones here. Best purchase I ever made.

I tend to dismiss a scarf or anything like a balaclava/ski mask. Anything up to my nose and my breath steams up my glasses. Especially dangerous if cycling but irritating even if on foot. I like to breathe and see at the same time.

Of course it can get much colder. I was just out and the wind's down to 9k so I thought it was pretty nice. There are huge sundogs!

Walking the dog in the -30's, I will be in my Sorel boots, ski pants over thermals, sweatshirt, Canada Goose parka and 150gram mitts.
And if it gets really cold, I'll swap the ski pants for the Choko snowmobile bib pants.

Wasn't cold today. +7 possibly warmer. Whistler was +3 at the village level. Apparently there was a temperature inversion there and it was actually warmer at the alpine level.

Was sunny today almost everywhere, except Whistler Village, foggy there, but 10 mins south, sunny sunny sunny.

I walked the dog today in -35 ... To be fair with layers on I didn't need huge amounts of fancy coats/snow pants which is good since being pregnant I can't get them over my tummy! Just had a pair of thermals under my jeans, vest, shirt and jumper.

I did think my face was going to freeze off though- don't know how to manage that!

Bit soft here...this temperature caused them to close all the schools. It didn't even snow.

Think Michelin Man. In black. It's minus effing awful here today.
