I thought canadian tire (note spelling
) took care of inspection of US spec vehicles for things like daytime running lights etc on the gopvernments behalf. Im not sure that applies to importing a non US market VINTAGE vehicle where the usual standards are waived? You might want to double check.
Oakvillian imported his old Morgan from the UK, he would know if you need a safety certificate to register an import for Canadian roads.

We have since imported a trailer from US which was newer than 15 years and did require the Federal inspection at Canadian Tire and also an older motorhome which required neither Federal nor Provincial inspection, just paid the GST & PST and licensed it.

the VP at Porsche may drive Porsche, he may need to know facts and figures, he certainly doesnt need to know how to service, change plugs, or do a lube job.
He "has" people to do that for him.
now think on that analogy

doode you seriously need to read before you leap,
I said "We had a lot of hoops to jump through, but as I hail from Blighty and missus spent nearly 20k bucks on the wedding, wasnt on the scam list "
where does it say anything about me being proud? It was a fact.
Besides as you surly know, that the bride pays for the wedding, and the groom pays for the reception and the hunneymoon. You know that right.. dont you, you have books on ettiquete and stuff in the old outback right ?

Thanks BC for the usefull coroboration
and its Missi. ON

You're correct, we brought 2 vehicles from UK. Because they were older than 15 years they did not enter the RIV (Register of Imported Vehicles) program, So didn't need the Federal inspection at Canadian Tire. They did however have to have a Provincial inspection, we're in BC. The Provincial inspection requirements will depend on which province the OP is registering the vehicle in.
