Default Hi and landing for PR 1st

Hi all,

been snooping around on other sites and decided to start some posts.

bit of "brief gen on me"

44, from London, son of migrant parents from the 60's.
born and bred in west London, live in Berks.
married last year, spent all of 7 weeks this yearwith the missus (as man and wife)
original plan was for her to come over, but when I went over to Canada for our wedding, decided to live the dream and become a mountie or a ice road trucker.

Actually as a type1 diabetic neither of thoes is probably possible.

My birthday is in April and our first anniversary, so will be celbrating that there!

So I'll start of small at Tim Hortons I expect.

Missus 944, has a good job as a manager for a logistics multinat. and her own house,

Our process came through in just under 4-5 months start to finish.

We had a lot of hoops to jump through, but as I hail from Blighty and missus spent nearly 20k bucks on the wedding, wasnt on the scam list

SO... I fly AC buisiness on Saturday and land sometime afternoon,
(for 2 weeks)

Bit worried about questions that I'll be asked, also have to make out thoes blessed "bringing and to follow forms", bring my meds for the diabetes so dont know if I'll have any probs with them or not.

Game plan is when I return, hopefully this year house will be gone, (have an offer agreed on the table)

I wanna ship my Porsche over if I cant sell it, so that has its challanges.
get a contanier and do all my other gear as well.

In Telecoms field but may start up my own buisness and or do something else.

Anywa just a hi and to say how excited and happy my visa came through and to be joining my wife.

any questions suggestion chime in

I gotta thick skin, I tell it like it is, and will always help you out if I can.

Peace

J

Unless its a vintage porsche (15+), or you intend to only use it on the track, there is no point bringing the car Im afraid, you wont be able to register it.

I dont see why you should worry about landing first, or having you diabetes drugs with you? The goods to follow form should be completed though, theres lots of advice here on that in the wiki and old threads.

Some Airlines require you to have written documents from your doctor stating that you are allowed to carry medicines or supplies. Syringes and needles in particular can present a problem when flying and when entering some countries.

good luck

thankxs for the reply,
its on a 91plate, so that makes it 19years
so doesnt come under the usually regs, although its RHD and not a left hooker.

car market here is rubbish, so may not get what i want for it,
also not seen mine in anyof the autotrader orother sites,
although, I did see one, and it wasnt in as good nick as mine,
dealer wanted something like $15k,
dont seem to be many red convertibles about either.

Driving around miss./tor/ seems to be colour of choice is grey or blue
(yuk) although, nothings confirmed yet.

I'm not necessarily worried, but as the saying goes its not over till the fat lady sings and anything could happen, unless.... I'm just being a big girls blouse

The fact I have a Visa and PR papers, should mean no probs, but Im sure I read somewhere the port of landing opfficers have the final say?

All my meds are labllled up and I have a valid RX for them, maybe just the way everythings gone, I' wanna make sure all the t's are crossed and I's are dotted

cheers for de lucks

United Kingdom use £, although NA keyboards may not have the option to type it. Good effort though

I know UK uses £'s

I meant that the Autotrader (canada site) did show my car once, it was up for something like $15k Canadian (does that make better sense)

So not wanting to blow $15k on a car I already have (even though min is RHD and the Canada ones are LHD) and I may not be able to sell for the price i want to in the uk.

Also mine doesnt have traction control only ABS, so really want that for the snow, so MAY indeed need to look for a newer one.

Sorry about the typo's I tend to type fast and not read back

Apologees in advance

driving a porsche in the snow traction control or not sounds like a bad idea unless you're looking to cash in on insurance

Dont under stand your thinking, Porche are really good in the snow

To the OP, you got PR through the spousal in 4-5 months although you didnt live together all last year
Ive been here 3 years have lived together daily for 1.5 years married 1 year and my papers arent back after 9 months Your story sounds mighty fishy to me, because i have never heard of a spousal go through that quick, especialy with that kind of separation, but i could be wrong

ok, this is what happened

After splitting up with my ex (2 years ago now) I met my OH, through friends,
we chatted and emailed and about 3-4 months, she came over for a month holiday (and to meet me) christmas time, I then popped the question to her and she said yes.

NOW the plan was for her to come to the uk, but as her family was there I decided to go there for the wedding as its her day right. and of course she ws paying (she had the full 21 gun salute, around 20k bucks I think she paid all in), thoguh I did fork out for the hunneymoon ! which was in Niagra falls... where else, stayed at the falls area in a nice hotel, hert shaped jacuzzi and all very cheesy, but hey thats nice

SO as I was saying 3 months after popping the question in march March I went there for the wedding and a lot of people wanted to know why I wanted to bring said wfe back here.

(wife is like me, however she was born in Sri Lanka, and then moved to Dubai, for a while, then lived in Can for 10 years) ME I was born and bred here (but folks are them selves born in SL)

so we decided for me to immigrte, came bck thought about it somemore, and put our papers in a few months later I think, processing time in missisagua was about a month, before it got transferred over to UK office. Then about 2 months before I had to go and collect my visa.

only thing Im waiting for is house, I have an agreed offer but its a bit slow.

we boh have good jobs´/houses in my job Im security cleared so thats always good, shes a manager for a multi national.

she came over again for one of the long bank holiday weekends and also for christmas (stayed a month) and now Im going out to coincide for our 1st anniversary.

so all told we have spent physically since beeing married just under 2 months, and all told aorund 3 months, but contact wise, 1.5 years

you know typing this out, I think man even I dont beleive that, but there you go

I only gotta say, you have faith in the God that moves you !

I dont know if it breaks any rues, but if you want to see our wedding pics, go to my website www.playback.demon.co.uk.

excuse the ypo again, Im not typing fast his time
one of thoes stupid slimline mac keybrds

well wish me luck
as the say

its not over till the at lady sings

arrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhh

The above is moot cos you'll not even be able to start moving. That said, rear engine may help but you'd probably want to turn traction control off to help get you moving.

So what model porsche do you have that's only worth $15k CAD? Is it knackered?

Edited to add: Did you have the traction control fitted yourself?

I haven't drove a porsche in snow so i could be wrong but I have crashed one on a damp road.
I am just thinking of a heavy 3.6/3.8 flat six hung out the back and no weight at all over front wheels makes me think you got to be light on the loafers or have a carbon fibre sphincter
