So much for trying to savour it. I just watched parts 3 and 4 because I couldn't wait. I'll likely finish it after the footie later.

There really is plenty to laugh at among the poignant parts.

Anyone watching the new Alan Partridge show 'The One Show'. It so perfectly mocks the vacuous 'infotainment' shows on UK TV these days. The fact that Piers Morgan doesn't find it funny makes it even better for me.

Not quite the level of 'I'm Alan Patridge' and so far Michael the Geordie and his 'cup o' beans' hasn't appeared yet.

Started the second season of Icelandic "Trapped" on BBC iPlayer but unfortunately I wasn't in time to catch the second episode before it disappeared.
So far I can only find unsubtitled versions on other sites so it'll have to wait, presumably until Netflix adds it to the first season.

So I just started BBC's The Little Drummer Girl based on a Le Carre novel. Not bad so far. Don't recall much about the movie.

I didn't know there was a second season of Trapped! Having had a quick google it seems a third may be coming too

Apparently there's a new series of Shetland as well.

Just finished "Turn Up Charlie", which we thoroughly enjoyed.

There seems to be a new season of Hap and Leonard on Netflix, so we'll watch that at some point.

Also need to finish off series two of Borderline. It's somewhat cringeworthy, but funny. My GF thought she might ask the border chappy at Gatwick what he thought of the show when we popped over last week. Thankfully she didn't as I suspect it wouldn't be met with amusement.

This may be another gem on Netflix.
1983
Nothing to do with Deutschland 83 or its sequel for 1986. It's an alternative/what if scenario in Poland which, I f I'd known beforehand I probably wouldn't have started. But I've started, so I shall carry on.

Or not.

Watched episode one of Line Of Duty (5). Top stuff as ever.

Grange Hill's Zammo lands role on EastEnders
How can Zammo be 50? Of course this means Tucker Jenkins is 55.

What a blast from the past. I loved watching Grange Hill, I felt so bad for Roly when he was getting bullied.

I only just got around to watching (4) on Netflix....and dont know what took me so long, that show is abslolutely superb! I cant praise it enough, its British TV at its best, compelling, gritty and feels real. Nothing the Americans make can remotely touch it.

I will have to wait forever for that to come on Netflix! Did you stream it live Bristol? and if so, what app did you use?

BBCiPlayer. I have two methods. The Hoxx add-on for Firefox. It works for ITV and C4 all the time and for BBC about 50/50.

When it doesn't work I use the Opera browser with Beebs or Beebs Premium.

Beebs is a Chrome add-on and it may no longer be free. But there's an add on for Opera called Install Chrome Extensions and that enables the adding of Beebs/Beebs Premium from the Chrome store.

I have installed Opera and those extensions solely for the purpose of watching BBC for the 50/50 times that Hoxx doesn't work.

Alternatively you could see it here. You just need to get used to the behaviours and use ublock origin to reduce popups.

Thanks Bristol, did you run that through your PC/laptop/tablet and cast to your TV, or did you manage to load an app onto your smart TV, I haven't figured out how to do that with mine yet....if if you can.

Yes, via my laptop.

But I got a little fed up up with the unplugging everything where I have my laptop, taking it to the TV, connecting up and then all in reverse again. Too many plugs, cables and stairs involved.

For $99 I bought a very good refurbished thin desktop and I have that connected up with the necessary browsers and add-ons. It sits nicely under the TV.

Yes, I think it's worth considering. Some of the alternative gadgets are not dissimilar in price and some channels, TV services don't work with all of them but do via computer. Although you don't have a nice convenient remote, you're not really changing channels.

Obviously much depends on space, layout of TV area etc. Even a cheap laptop could work.

It gives a spare computer too. And if you're streaming a game of footie, at half time you can minimise the picture while checking scores from other games

Nice double bill tonight. Episode 2, season 5 of Line of Duty and episode 1, season 2 of Killing Eve.

Keeping up the standard
