Re: Go Flames go?!
I dunno, it probably depends on where in the country you are, but in Calgary I'd certainly say it goes
NHL Hockey
Junior Hockey
CFL Football
NFL Football
Lacrosse
I'm actually surprised fitba and basketball aren't a bigger deal here...but it could be because there are no major league teams for those here...

Today everyone happens to be a big boxing fan and expert despite no one in the bar ever mentioning it before.
Basketball was the national sport last week.
Next week it will probably be Based Ball.

Re: Go Flames go?!
Iced hockey is the big winter game and CFL football is in summer except on the east coast where there are no teams, and baseball is only semi-big because there are only 2 Canadian teams. If you're in TO or Montreal it's big. Colchar, on BE it's iced hockey, get used to it.

But, quite frankly, the only city in Canada where all North American professional sports are on offer is Toronto.
It's just that none of the Toronto teams are ever even slightly competent.
Edit: the lacrosse team have had their excellent years, so I guess that's the exception.

Now, as it turns out, I'm a bit of a baseball fan so I think I'll take umbrage at the BlowJays remark.

Re: Go Flames go?!
I still remember when the Marines brought the Canadian flag in at the World Series game upside down. And the other classic momeny was when they starting singing the national anthem in Toronto and the Americans in the audience stood up and suddenly realized they hadn't got a clue what the words were.

There is no national sport in Toronto. It is just hop on the next bandwagon.

The Raptors can be fun to watch, but I can't imagine them winning much any time soon.
We'll leave the Maple Leaves out of the conversation and while the Argos have won the odd Grey Cup it doesn't really count when there are only a handful of teams and they juggle the same old NFL rejects among themselves each year. Someone's bound to win it, but it doesn't matter who.
Toronto FC? Let's not go there either.
