Ah! But this one's a prebiotic. Quite different. It doesn't do anything at all except cost money which goes into the pocket of a charlatan.

Since purchasing it I have yet to be attacked by a lion Obviously it works Homer: Well, there's not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol is sure doing its job. Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad. Homer: Thank you, sweetie. Lisa: Dad, what if I were to tell you that this rock keeps away tigers. Homer: Uh-huh, and how does it work? Lisa: It doesn't work. It's just a stupid rock. Homer: I see. Lisa: But you don't see any tigers around, do you? Homer: Lisa, I'd like to buy your rock. |
Re: Flu shots.
Thanks everybody for your kind words and support. I went into work today. I am exhausted. I have been drinking plenty of Ouzo it warms me up and then I fall off to sleep, until I get my flu shot next week.

Re: Flu shots.
No sure you'll want to hear this, or whether it still applies/applies in Canada, but I know the few times I got a flu shot in the UK they wouldn't give it to you if you already had a virus of some kind....

Never had a flu shot in my life.

Re: Flu shots.
Normally I don't bother but I'm seriously reconsidering this year. Ben got the flu last year and it affected him for WEEKS afterwards. I also went off on a bit of an "anti vaccine morons" rant in the staff room the other day and now feel a tad hypocritical about not getting the flu shot. Although in my defense I was talking about parents who don't vaccinate their children

Re: Flu shots.
The clinics just opened here yesterday and I well may go down and get jabbed this morning on my break. At the old folk's home I'll go to you get free coffee and cookies and you get to meet a nurse - win win win, never mind the health benefits!:)

 An obscure sounding vaccine is less effective? You do write some tosh.
I think some years they want to make a flu vaccine but they're having a hard time finding something to vaccinate against. |

There you go, http://www.who.int/influenza/vaccine.../en/index.html
This WHO recommendations for 2013-2014. You say a relative got the flu one year, was it really influenza? Was it identifued by a laboratory? If not then you can't say that theu had the flu. There are many ILIs, influenza like infections, that people describe as flu. I don't understand why anyone wopuldn't get it though. Given that it is known to not be a terribly effective vaccine, I can see why some people wouldn't want to get it. |

Well that sounds a bit more pertinent as some of the strains are from North America.
Well they put her on Tamiflu. From the paperwork they gave me yesterday when I got it, they list various rare side-effects such as Oculorespiratory Syndrome and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Given that it is known to not be a terribly effective vaccine, I can see why some people wouldn't want to get it. |
