Oh. I've done a lot of wild fire research over the years and have been closer than you are now to bigger fires, but not that close downwind of an out of control burn.

Get the **** out.

I'm sure too. But the only chance is to make a fire break (at least 200m wide) between your camp and the burn line. This is what I mean by a backfire.

The fire has jumped all the breaks, not to mention the Athabasca River and numerous smaller rivers. The wind from the north is about 30km/h so there's not much that can be done. The hope is that tonight the winds switch round to the south, as the forecast seems to suggest might happen.
