If the free purchase was successful, it should have the little red bag icon next to it.

The funny thing is, the exact same thing happened to me too since I posted that reply (after I picked the second game).
It's downloading now, I was able to get it from Playstation Network (root menu)->Account Management->Transaction Management->Download List.
