Drum rolls please.....Tada!
Well I have just had my 1st weigh in. I can't believe it's already been a month
Good news and bad news.
Bad 1st - I have not lost a single ounce
Good - I have shrunk by 7 inches - 3 of them from my waist
and my BMI has gone down .3
So I am feeling pretty good but annoyed with myself as had I been dieting properly too I would probably have lost some of that excess fat as well. So here's to the next 4 weeks!!

Piff - that's great - don't forget muscle weighs more than fat, so the scales don't mean a thing... losing inches and getting your ratios right are far better indicators!
No weighing for me this week - I "fuelled up" well for the last week's hikes in the Rockies so need to get back on track.
I was doing okay yesterday until dinner-time when there was a minor setback (my dear old, slightly demented, dad microwaved the double portion of cod intended for OH and me, instead of his own single portion of chicken). Cue a couple of glasses of wine to calm nerves plus a bowl of cereal plus toast and honey to quell hunger pangs.

So I didnt post last week coz I just stayed the same; not a great deal better this week either, only lost 1lb!
But I have now done the big good bye party and girls night out and best friends couples night out.
So I'm hoping that the lack of alcohol in the next two weeks will have an impact on weight loss! Not to mention the packing next week.
Here me hoping

That's great
I've had a bad few weeks - 2lbs in four weeks - hardly worth the effort - and virtually zero exercise - onwards and upwards !!

Good going Piff Poff.
I don't think there is any bad news in your post at all. IMO, your 'bad' news is good news because it's a clear example of why people should not use the numbers on a scale as the sole judge of their progress. Imagine how defeated you might have felt if you only had used scale weight as your guide and not taken a waist measurement?
Losing inches off your waist measurement is a sure sign that you are losing body fat and that means that you are on the right track!

I'm certainley feeling positive for this comming month and as we don't have Thanksgiving, I won't be buying profiteroles to have with ice cream, hot fudge sauce and cream
.I'm not expecting to lose another 7 inches, just don't think that will happen but I know I will lose something even if it's only my mind

Good on you
I totally agree. I'm 5"3', a UK size 12 on average, do lots of skiing and mountain biking so have muscley legs, and a G cup size. I couldn't believe it when the GP at Leeds University told me that I was over-weight. I did ask him if he had taken some weight off for my G cup (they must weight a stone each!) as I think a C cup is meant to be the average for a UK size 12. He said no rather rudely looking at spare tire round my middle!
Anyway, I am totally useless what dieting with food. Find it much easier to add healthy things, rather than cut out the naughties I enjoy!
But I have just joined the Running Room's Learn to Run clinic. 4 weeks in and we are running 4 minutes and walking 1 min for 20 mins. Honestly the first week I was struggling with the run 1 min walk 2 min combo. As I suspected would happen, legs have got even more muscley, BUT I have lost a bit of the spare tire from round my middle, and my jeans are feeling a bit looser!!!
They are great. No-one is young and skinny or wearing too much lycra! All real women, and a few men. We meet 3 times a week, which seems a lot, but so long as you just get yourself to the shop, then they take over. I can't run by myself, but there I just find someone to chat to, and off we go (about 20 of us in our clinic), with the clinic leader blowing their whistle to tell us when to walk and when to run.
They have 2 clinic leaders - one at the front for us slowies and one at the front. During the 1 min walks, they get the front people to turn around and walk back to the slowies so we all keep together and no one gets left behind.
There are Running Rooms all over Canada http://www.events.runningroom.com/hm2/
Each clinic trains for an event. We're meant to the Vancouver Santa Shuffle in December. For me the goal of completing a fun-run / 5km is far better than just excerising to loose weight.
Also, as we are coming up to ski season, Grouse Moutain in Vancouver, does an excellent Ladies Night program on Monday Nights. Great way to with learn to ski or improve, and there is compulsary Apres Ski afterwards!!!
I think that's it great when people decide to get healthy - to lose fat, eat well, get physically fit and de-stress. My beef is with the notion that weighing a certain number on a scale is a measure of health and fitness. It is not.
