A bit of sci-fi now again makes a change.

Ex Machina. Artificial Intelligence with looks.

I was kept guessing

Lots of people really like that film, but I watched it and thought it was awful. Too far up it's own arse with it's premise; a premise that completely broke my suspension of disbelief (and it usually takes quite a lot to do that). Yeah, bloke invents AI on his own in a cabin the woods... srsly?

I didn't see the ending coming - although when it did it was yet another scene that was completely unbelievable.
Spoiler:
The heli-pilot just took off did they?
Still by that time it did I really didn't care. The only reason I stuck with it was because it passed the time on a flight.

Quite a bit of discussion on IMDB about that.

The most likely one for me was
Spoiler:
a weekly pick up/drop off for whoever was there in a no questions asked sort of scenario - for an eccentric millionaire.

Another in the traditions of All The President's Men and Spotlight comes Truth.

I must start watching reruns of The Newsroom soon but House of Cards season 4 is up next.

A good giggle - with one or two surprises - is The Night Before

Love the scene in the church

I saw the night before a few days ago, good enough movie for a laugh.

Watched Trumbo today, which was a pretty good movie and interesting story.

Hateful 8, not sure why I bothered, apart from liking Tarantino, was a bit of a snooze

The Forest

Simple advice- avoid like the plague- I like a good horror movie and this certainly isn't one of them. Normally I get a Rotten Tomatoes score to see whether it is worth watching or not- I should have done in this case-9%

Given that it is about Brian Clough, a horror film in the true sense of the word;)

The Forest was just a shocker but not in a good way

Sisters
Some funny bits but not rib splitting- Fay/Poehler are ok, I prefer Amy Schumer

I don't recall if I posted on that. A  from me on that one.

Saw Martian the other day and The Imitation Game last night, thought they were both really good. I didn't know about Turing being driven to suicide, what a shame.

Did you think the Martian was deserving of the best comedy film award ;)

I wasn't aware of what awards or noms it garnered, nice cinematography more than anything for me. Imitation was quite light on historical accuracy and over-simplified Bletchley and the operation but the good acting made that forgiveable.
