I wanted to post in this thread of Oinks, but it's closed.
First Chile, then NZ, and now Japan. Next it's going to be us. I'm no expert, but there appears to be a circular pattern around the Pacific rim and I reckon that's how plate tectonics works.
Is everyone on the BC coast prepared? (I hope nobody here lives in Port Alberni)

Yes, I have a supply of canned goods, bottled water, a first aid kit and some of those foil blankets. And I was going to stock up on Chunky Soup clam chowder last weekend as they had a five for the price of four special going, but HID vetoed the purchase as apparently we're eating more healthfully at the moment. She can **** off if she thinks she'll steal my Zoodles now if a big earthquake hits.

Yes, and I reckon the quakes are going around it clockwise - and we're in the way.
Like Oink, I've got lots of stuff in the cupboard. But I'm going to nip out this weekend to get some more beans, tuna, water, and canned veggies/soups. Can't be too prepared and at the very least it's a hedge against inflation.

I don't for one second wish that upon you.

Excellent thinking. I have an unopened bottle of Remy Martin and a couple of decent single malts. I'll add then to the emergency supplies kit. My only concerns are:
a) we are supposed to be self-sufficient for three days. Will this be sufficient?
b) what will Mrs. JonboyE drink?

Whatever it is you all stock up with just make sure it floats and you have a large fisherman's net to fish it out of the tsunami water with.

I need to get a couple of wind up torches and radios. And while I'm not advocating it, I wouldn't be adverse to putting a .45 and a box of shells in the pack.
