I don't really care if they change them which should also have been an option for the poll.
The council has already voted to change the name. All that's left is deciding what to change it to...

(and all amenities with the same name)

named in honour of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville — an 18th-century politician from Scotland who used his power to delay the freedom of slaves in Britain.

He later became known as "The Great Tyrant" for tweaking an anti-slavery bill that would delay the abolition of the slave trade by roughly 15 years. His actions froze the freedom of roughly 630,000 slaves.

I was surprised to find out that Washington uses letters for some of its streets !

OK, so I didn't know that (after living 3 decades in Toronto, including 6 years of secondary education, and 4 years of University...who knew?) Clearly there were a lot of gaps in the 'history' curriculum in the 1980s.

But, though now agreeing with the sentiment that "Dundas" should be 'cancelled'--in a good sense--from roads, subway stations, and other desiderata that commemorate a decidedly unworthy and unpleasant historical figure around Toronto, I'd suggest that due care be taken before choosing some replacement name.

Naming anything after a person or group of individuals always has the potential for controversy years down the road. Was Michael Jackson and I guess we can name several other high profile individuals innocent of alleged misgivings since their deaths? Ya think a few Popes and others are sweating on their backgrounds coming to the attention of others?

Does that mean we're not entitled to revisit and reconsider such commemorations, simply because even more bodies might be buried elsewhere...?

What I was pointing out is that if we stopped naming shit after alleged famous people then we wouldn't have this problem. Far easier to pull a statue down and cost effective rather than renaming a street and everything that goes with it.

Good point. I just wish you would have told it to those British-Empire-guys-who-named-things about two centuries ago.

Hopefully the city government (aka Joe Taxpayer) will compensate those businesses that need to rename and get new signage. There seem to be lots of small businesses that are called Dundas something.
