You do draw certain mental images from avatars/posts... We'll i do anyway!

We're easy to spot.

Oakvillian and I are bald and will probably be arm wrestling. He will be winning.

Novocastrian kind of looks like Gandalf if you squint your eyes.

Actually whilst I'm here Novo have you spoken to LMartin recently????

That would spoil all the fun, Tirytory! You have to slink round, trying to hear conversations and accents (in a busy pub on a Friday night) and declare yourselves to complete strangers who haven't a clue what you're on about! Only joking - we did have a preferred table to meet at - although come to think of it, that failed miserably.

The one time I booked a table for 12 aptly named "British Expats" only 4 people turned up in the end.

I don't want to jinx it again.

When we had a meet on Cobourg beach the excellent Largo sent us some Union flags to use as markers. Sadly rain stopped play.

No. He's been assimilated into the administrative collective and has no time these days for trivial things like booze. ;)

I could give him a heads-up though and see if he bites (in the nicest possible sense).

I've never met Largo but that sounds like something she'd do. You know that she's from roughly the same place as you are? (of course you do).

Today I had lunch with someone I hadn't seen for twenty years.

"Remember when your brother glassed that guy in the Yard", he said, "the one who went to Queens?"

I did. I don't go there enough. I, perhaps we, will have to come on the 2nd.

I might have to bring along my elder son (he'll be back from Barcelona before then). He went to Queens and could probably use a good glassing.

It wasn't a good glassing. Purely symbolic. "I hit him over the head so obviously I didn't really want to hurt him" said the perpetrator. Even so, we were lucky not to get cut off.

I'm not bringing my son. He decided to do a Macaulay Culkin and slide down the bannister at a pub when out for St. Patricks on Monday - he managed 4 stairs, then fell down the rest (resulting in a very nasty carpet burn down the right hand side of his face). You would think he would know better at his age but I suppose he thought he was in 'jackass' or something. Silly boy.

Good God. What is his age then?

31!

It didn't stop him drinking though, so it was all ok (apparently).

No, I can quite imagine that. Today is my elder son's 32nd birthday. He went out some time ago with friends. I expect to see him again on Sunday slightly the worse for wear.

You know, your formerly illegal bruvver and Oink's nan hang over this forum like virtually squared ghosts. They're both enigmatic celebrities with even less substance than the rest of the virtual rabble.

Happy birthday to him - I am sure he will have a good weekend!
