Does anyone else find it ironic...

Which they're welcome to.
They could even have an opinion poll.
edit: I'm actually gobsmacked that you Harperists would attack the CBC for making available a tool to assist Canadians to be informed as to which party they are most aligned towards.
It may not be perfect, but it is typical of the extreme right to vilify anything which encourages the flow of ideas which they can't control.
Of course this doesn't apply to Stephen, oh no.

Well here we go...the latest release for all the Iggnatifist's out there..
Liberals release election platform
http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/04...tion-platform/
"Despite mocking Conservative leader Stephen Harper for proposing policies such as income splitting that won’t kick in until 2015, nearly half of Mr. Ignatieff’s major proposals — a $700-million boost for the Guaranteed Income Supplement and $980-million for a post-secondary learning “passport†— won’t be funded until the second year of a Liberal mandate."
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/...-buyer-beware/
"Unfortunately, none of the sound ideas are original and few of the original ideas are sound. The retrofit tax credit is a dead-ringer for the eco-Energy Plan in the recent Tory budget, although this version is permanent. Other ideas, such as the Volunteer Fire-fighter Tax Credit and the $700-million Guaranteed Income Supplement have also been lifted wholesale from rival parties."
"This election comes down to whether Canadians want continuity or change. The Liberal pitch is that families have lost ground over the past five years. They have identified a new sense of caution and retrenchment among families who are working harder than ever but feel they are falling behind. The Liberal case for change is that unemployment, personal debt and the nation’s finances are in worse shape than they were when the Harper government took power.
This is true but ignores the Great Recession that took place in the midst of those five years. Even after the financial crisis, Canadians are better off than they were five years ago by many metrics — GDP per capita is up, hourly wages have outpaced inflation and national net worth per capita, which reflects assets like houses and investments, has reached record highs. One suspects most Canadians feel like they have dodged a bullet.
Mr. Ignatieff talks a good game about creating equal opportunity, building democracy and protecting families. But at the end of the day, the numbers just don’t add up. Buyers should beware."
Even Layton states that it will be a book of broken promises like previous red books (not sure if he agreed with 1/2 the contents). Either way, with Iggy-flops track record of flip flops.....it won't be long before it under goes amendment....not that that would be a bad thing.
Increased taxes on Corporations are the order of the day, which of course will end up in all our laps....same old same old red book bollox's

You dont think its possible that, as leader of the opposition, there might be other calls on his time?
Do you think the PM votes in every division? Please, try and maintain a grip on realtily. The fact that he didnt vote doesnt mean he didnt support the proposition, its not like he voted against it.

Iggy flop...walked during the vote...for one reason....he had flip flopped....
Simple as that...

Could you please read that article again, and then point out what justification these hypothetical "critics" may have? Apart from their own opinions.
Which they're welcome to.
They could even have an opinion poll.

I am a "harperist" by default. Maybe when some else comes along and is worth voting for I will vote for them. I am not your "extreme right" either. I think if the conservatives said they don't care about gay marriage or pot they would win an easy majority. Although it matters not to me who smokes what or marries whom, I don't care enough about either of those issues to make them a deciding factor on my vote. I do however prefer the conservatives over the other parties as far as the economy and especially forced wealth redistribution.
As far as politicians go, I still trust the conservatives more than the liberals, who were prepared to grab power by getting in bed with the separatists and just recently voted against a budget before they even had a chance to go over it in any detail (premeditated). They could have reviewed the budget and at least fought for some changes on the things they wanted to see like a good opposition party, but power is all they really want. I doubt that this election will change anything.
As for the other parties, the Bloc doesn't give a crap about you or me enough to bother wanting our votes, but they will do whatever they can to create chaos and instability for the country. The greens are in no position to operate a country with a trillion dollar economy. I have a completely different philosophy on what the governments role in society should be than the NDP and I am not big on Jack, but I am sure he is a nice person.
But me an extreme right winger is no more true than you are a commie.

The link I showed was one example, the professor at Queens was another. The professor who gave both left and right responses and keep getting liberal.......

Looks like the long gun registry is doomed....
As if it affected (or is it effected!)...the criminal possession or use of firearms in the first place.
Access to the FAC card database by law enforcement officers is/was - all that was needed in-order to inquire as to the likelihood of firearms being located at a specific residence.
Not a billion buck registry.

Yay, I can agree with you on that one at least. The gun registry was a farce. Didnt help those poor schmucks in Meyerthorpe any.
The gun rules here are bizarre to say the least. My boss plays with guns, he has a reasonable collection. Recently some regulation was imposed to prohibit having magazines made for more that 8 rounds for one of his semi automatics rifles. But the law allows you to use a pistol magazine in it. So he bought a 15 round pistol mag that fits his rifle, and that perfectly legal. Its a bit of a farce to say the least, and thats not getting into the whole long gun shambles.
As he also says, the criminals are probably not too fussed about breaking a few firearms regs anyway in addition to whatever else they are doing, so its the responsible enthusiasts who end up suffering the brunt of whatever the government wasnt to inflict in the name of law and order lip service.
I woulnt get too excited by the prospect of the end of the long gun registry though, I think its the third or 4th time its been an election promise now.

I prefer to look at it as four police officers killed needlessly in the line of duty.
Moderator, my arse....

Perhaps you didnt understand schmuck as a luckless person on the receiving end of something bad through no fault of their own? You are clearly in a great hurry to judge me. Its just as well I am not in the same hurry in judging you.
You said earlier that you used to be a chippy. Now I wonder if it wasnt a typo. You cant even play nice when I agree with you for once

Thats exactly what they were. Police officers killed needlessly because they were not aware the guy had a rifle.

"Schmuck is most often used in American English as a pejorative or insult, meaning an obnoxious, contemptible person; one who is stupid, foolish, or detestable. The word is also used by many Jewish people across Europe with similar pejorative meanings. Variants of spelling and alterations include shmuck, schmo, and shmo."
And that's the way I took it....

Wikipedia to the rescue eh! Others might think that "poor" might change the context, but Im not going to waste my time explaining. Im sure others are capable of making their own mind up.
Take it however you want. However pass comment about me or anyone else at your peril.

Any rational person in ROC would take the view that the Bloc shouldn't have any involvement with the federal government. However, from time to time, each main party has been desperate enough to try to make some sort of deal/arrangement with them. The difference is that the liberal party sellout price is much lower to the detriment of ROC. It is ridiculous that the Bloc is included in the English language TV debate.
