yes but getting back to discrimination, the new law with giving women more maternity leave will be a big factor when employing women. as an ex employer in a mostly female dominated job. there was always somebody on maternity leave

It could go a long way to tackling discrimination against women of a child-bearing age if the maternity/paternity leave could be divided and taken by either partner as they see fit. A friend (who is just about to go on paternity leave) tells me that it is cetainly possible to do in BC.

This would be problematic for our firm. We don't employ women of child bearing age in order to avoid the maternity leave issue. It's unlikely that we would engage the sort of man who might take paternity leave but having to explicitly avoid reproductive men would be troublesome.
