If we leave early, sans the official release paper from PHAC on Day 15, then we can be charged for violating the federal Quarantine Act. So although I'm in Canada, I'm actually still under federal jurisdiction (just as at the border station), not provincial. I'm trying real hard to be a good boy right now, because I want my release paperwork sans any snafus. After that, I'll be able to be even more forthcoming, whilst giving a one-fingered salute to the Triumvirate on my way out of this shyte-hole, haha.

Not in Canada. I've read that some places stun after throat cutting to alleviate suffering. Animal welfare isn't too great generally.

The Chinese sausage I really like consists of fat, salt, sugar, and alcohol. In Mongolia they put it in salad (honest truth).
Meanwhile in Sask our numbers continue to trend down. I'm half expecting a little bump from the long weekend, but we'll see if it happens or not.

If the feds really cared about Canadians' public health right now, they'd open the border to let folk drive into the U.S. border states to seek vaccination.

Any Canadian can easily get vaccinated as a walk-in right now at a supermarket pharmacy in the U.S., where their only question will be to ask if the person can come back for the 2nd shot.

But the strand of arrogantly-entitled dynastic DNA in the Cottage doesn't want to lose face to the Nation or within the G clubs, and he still has his hopeful sights set on leading the U.N. one day.

916 new cases yesterday in Ontario. First time numbers have dipped below 1K since February. 14 days until some restrictions are lifted ie non essential shops, restaurant outdoor patios are allowed to open. News expected today on school reopening, although granddaughter’s school year ends on the 17th June.

Only if 60% of people have received 1 dose of vaccine.. presently the percentage is 51% - and public health indicators, such as hospitalizations, ICU occupancy and new admissions and case rates indicate the province can safely move to this step of the roadmap -- so fingers crossed! The dip in numbers is hopefully a good sign :fingerscrossed:

OH and I both received invitations on Friday to make appointments for our 2nd vaccination jab of Pfizer.

The problem is getting through to make that appointment :(

It can be done either online or by phone ................. both both have been inundated since the news was announced. We'll try again tomorrow!

My MIL tried all weekend by phone and never was able to get through. After a very painful and difficult phone call where she read the uber long website link character by character, I was able to book online for her, website seemed to work fine, but earliest appointment for her in Squamish was mid June, which isn't bad, about 75 days from her first dose.

I think the problem was that everyone who got the invitation tried to do it at once. Good that you managed to get an appointment for your m-i-l. OH sat n the computer for an hour trying to get on, then was finally told his time had run out and to try again. People were reporting 4 hour waits by phone and then told to hang up and try again.

I'm hoping things will be a little quieter now.

Any time before the end of July would be sooner than what we were expecting, and it really won't make that much difference in the way we are currently living

We can't travel out of our Health Region, or to other places in Canada. We certainly don't want to go stay in a hotel until "service is resumed" ...... I can stay home, make my own bed, change linens, and make my own breakfast and lunch, without paying the cost of a room and still have to do all that :nod:

Here in the Far East you get your second jab appointment automatically when you get the first jab. Mine is mid Sept although there is talk of accelerating second jab rollout if vaccine supply permits.

We both had our first jabs at the end of March, OH on the 27th and me on the 30th. We were both told then it would be 16 weeks before we got the second .............. ie, end of July/beginning of August.

Now vaccinations have gone so fast here that everything is being brought forward.

OH phoned for his appointment this morning, the earliest date he could get was June 17th at the Conference Centre downtown.

I'd been hoping for the River Rock Casino in Richmond, which is literally 10 minutes by car across the Fraser River for us, or out at UBC which is 15-20 minutes away, both with good parking.

The Conference Centre is almost as far from us as it is possible to go south to north, and parking is difficult, let alone negotiating through downtown with all its one-way streets and bike lanes!

I'll get him to make my appointment at one of the other 2 places, even is I have to wait longer.

I'm dealing with a major hearing problem at the moment, have a test on Thursday, but it makes it very difficult to hear especially on the phone, so he is doing much of making appointments for me for now.
