Given that my computer says you posted at 8:50am NL time so that's 7:20am EST your swift commute is also a consequence of leaving Upper Apalachia at or even before sparrows fart?

Note that I'm never the first person to arrive at work and, leaving around 5 pm, I'm always the first one gone. I think my colleagues must hate their spouses.

I can't believe how unhelpful and rude some people are on this forum. Those of you already in Canada should just try to throw your feeble little minds back to when you were in the same position as the "newbies".....trying to figure out the complicated Immigration system, making the Big Decision about moving to another country etc, etc. Most of them are bewildered -
- by the system, and genuinely want help....not silly, childish remarks. It may well be "etiquette" to do a cursory search first - but not everyone even knows about the Search facility. The first time I visited this forum I didn't know about it; I think it was possibly a sarcastic comment directed at another poster, that drew my attention to it. You're like bullies in the playground, with the "I'm here and you're not, so nah-nah-nah-nah-nah" mentality. I think some of you on here just lurk in a dark corner waiting to pounce - grow up, the lot of you - and try to be kind to each other!

Oh will you bloody lighten up! No one is bullying anyone, if you use any chat room on the net you need a thick skin, so get a grip.
"Butchy" can't help having the sense of humour of a serial killer now can he
Actually, he's alright.

I must admit I trod a bit warily when I first came across the site, but it's been a fantastic resource, and I haven't found anything better.
Some of the guys who've been around a while have a dig now and again, but they always help when they can. I put on a few 'dogs' of questions, like, 'do I really have to fumigate my mattress',
and people generally responded in good heart.
A bit of fun and humour doesn't go amiss. Many of us are stressed about the move (where is that damn PPR?), but the guys here are pretty supportive, and have been a great help to me.
I'll stop gushing now, and wait until Butchy-kins wakes up and comes back for round 4.
So what's my point? Chill out, and keep your sense of humour - much more likely to get the info you need that way?

But some people really do ask for it.
A poster yesterday started a thread that may as well have been called 'kick me'. I did but not very hard. She threw her toys out of the pram and stomped off vowing never to return.
I had an email from the mods (my first - I'm so proud) saying that my post was to be deleted to 'keep the peace'. The same mod later sent me another email, indicating that on reflection there was nothing wrong with my post and it was staying.
Another poster gave me karma.
Funny old life.

Just imagine what this forum would be like if it were run along the same lines as Guardian Unlimited.

In a similar vein to Souv, I had my first post deleted recently, presumably because it was considered inappropriate for the forum it was in. Perhaps there is something in the air at the moment that is causing us all to be snarky. Or perhaps that there does seem to have been a recent glut of well, frankly really dumb questions or posts that seem to have no purpose than to invite ridicule. The world is a harsh place at times and this forum is reflective of that.
I know there is no such thing as a dumb question and that many are genuinely seekers after greater knowledge and englightenment. But really if you can use the internet (and since you are here you presumably can unless someone else is 'driving' for you) then you can use a search function. My personal bugbear is the sheer laziness of not endeavouring to research a topic here or elsewhere but rather posting the question here and expecting others to provide you the information on a plate.
Do some research and ask for clarification or most likely people's experiences but for gawds sake be an informed consumer and not a cabbage!
One of the common threads that binds us here is perhaps that British dry sense of humour that we may find lacking in our daily interactions with Canadians. For me personally having found this forum after already having immigrated it's a compelling reason to stay.
Anyway, back to more important matters. Souv did you fix the bog?
