Funny.

So where "on the fringe of GTA" do you call home? How do you like living in Ontario?

North of Orangeville, in the back of beyond.

The good thing about Ontario is that houses are cheap, having low cost accomodation allows one to accumulate consumer durables.

I've just google earth'd Orangeville. Blimey! That is out in the back of beyond compared to the Beaches. How long does the commute take?

It's an hour and a half each way. What would be good would be to get that interweb thingy out there; then I wouldn't have to come down here all the time.

I wasn't far from your neck of the woods the other day on a site visit: Mount Forest- a pleasant little banjo-playing community with lots of mennonite buggies.

Ah yes, Charlie (the dog) came from a breeder near Mount Forest. I haven't seen any buggies since we moved to the boonies but the local farrier is a Mennonite so I guess he'll have one. I have seen a couple of Santa type sleighs, but no reindeer.

I've driven that road many times now and with the way the snow covers it most of the winter, you'd be well advised to get a sleigh.

Nice, quiet part of the province though.

Really, is it in the rules somewhere?

Lots of us who now live in Canada spend time answering questions. I wasn't aware that there were Gestapo police monitoring our responses for politeness and friendliness.

Point is, I come on here because I like to talk Canada these days with people who live here, from a used to live in the UK point of view. I'll quite happily help people out where needs be, but answering inane questions falls outside of my job description.

When I first joined, nearly three years ago now, I did a lot of searching of past posts to get answers to questions. Perhaps if people spent their own time researching questions that have been already answered, they'd save my and other peoples time rather than posting BOOORRRRING questions and then being shocked that they don't get positive answers back.

And for what it's worth, a lot of people here are positive and have lots of good (and useful) things to say about Canada

To quote a well worn phrase from my Dad, "Nobody owes you a living"

The road near our place seems to be closed half the time. There are permanent "Closed When Flashing" signs. Last weekend I went to the Beer Store only to find that threoretically I couldn't come back.

I sometimes have dreams like that........

'Closed when flashing.......'. I wonder if that's ever been used in defence.
