Indeed. I think I need to revisit my strategy for next year. Too many of mine are very elderly and in unfathomably rude good health. Nicholas Parsons celebrated his 90th birthday a a few weeks ago. Tony Bennett is still going strong at 87. Edinburgh is a bit dodgy but, at 92, hardly worth the points any more. Jean Chretien's only 79 but appears to be surprisingly healthy for somebody who's had both a quadruple bypass and brain surgery in the last 5 years.

Even my Thatcher replacement, Hamid Karzai, 55, seems to be in less immediate danger of assassination than he was earlier in the year.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you.
