It was a case of me checking back to page 1, to see who I'd picked and I saw his name mentioned. The glib thoughts "unlucky!" and "almost!" ran through my mind.

Anyway, don't you worry, your position at #1 is safe.

Surely people who play golf for a living only count as celebrities if they're in the news for something else. Maybe like their wife beating them up with a club.

Yeah, I get that bit, thanks. But I also recall many other names being mentioned here whose "deaths have been greatly exaggerated"....so it's topical, that's all! ;)

From what I can see, the story was run by newswires all over the world. Even the francophone QC papers reported it and few people here would have ever heard of him.
